Question/Feature Request
Hi: Well, your main problem is that only 1 process will be able to read from the soundcard. I can think of a bit of hackery that might work though. If you're running ALSA, I believe there's a switch for arecord that will cause the left channel to go to 1 file and the right to go to another. If you got it to write these to FIFOs then maybe ices could use its wav input? hmmm, the header

New feature query
Hi: I've upgraded 2 icecast servers from October checkouts to current CVS and noticed a lot of new stuff. got a query about a feature in the config file. <queue-size>102400</queue-size> >From a thread on icecast-dev, I gather this is to do with how much audio is stored in icecast to shove to clients when they connect, right? But what does this number represent? Geoff.

icecast1 type stats logs in icecast2 ?
Here is a php script that parses out the stats.xml file from the admin of the icecast2 server. It currently only parses the page out to variables and still needs a bit of work. anyways here is the php source files http://cvs.casterclub.com/dev/icecast2_status/v1.3/ice2_conf.phps http://cvs.casterclub.com/dev/icecast2_status/v1.3/ice2_status.phps <p><p>Dave St John CEO Mediacast1

no mp3s with ices2!? an other way?
Hi: My understanding was that the ices 0.x app was still being maintained. If it doesn't work with icecast2, and I've not personally tried it, then there's some problem with either ices 0.x or icecast2 and it needs to be fixed. icecast2 should also accept shoutcast-style MP3 streams as well, and again if this doesn't work, it's a bug that needs fixing. I don't see a lot

Ices issues
Hi: I ran a live test broadcast today and noticed a couple of things that concerned me. Now, I'll admit I was pushing my P2/266 pretty hard, but it kept things going so I'm guessing that it's not unreasonable for me to expect this to work. I was sending two streams encoded from the sound card, one at 22khz mono quality -1 and the other at 44.1 stereo quality 0. I was also saving

Streamer / scheduler - play file at predifined time?
thanks, this works but its almost impossible to make all my programs to add up to an hour exactly so at some stage I would need to kill the a song half way through just before the news at the top of the hour. Any ideas on how to do this ??/ R <p>On Wed, 9 Oct 2002 09:00:39+1000(EST) Geoff Shang<gshang@uq.net.au> wrote: > Hi: > > Regarding refreshing the playlist. IIRC,

Icecast2 & ices0.3 live MP3 streaming
I am still not sure that it is possible ... ices - unable to compile
thanks Geoff. I was going to spare everyone the details and continue my search but I sincerely appreciate the help. Here's the output from 'configure', 'make', and 'make install', as best I could capture it. I'm not editing any of the make files or using any flags. This is the latest version if ices that is on icecast.org. It appears that libshout came with the

IceS 2.0a - Extended sleep requested
I've just finished a little encoding set and the following happened: 22Khz resampled, q-0.4 encode = ~38kbs = one error at the beginning only. 22Khz resampled, q-0.5 encode = ~37kbs = 6 to 7 sleep errors in the first second or so, nothing after that. 22Khz resampled, q-0.6 encode = ~35kbs = 14 to 15 sleep errors then nothing. 22Khz resampled, q-0.8 encode = ~33kbs = Many sleep errors. ---

ices2 - Unreasonable error?
Hi: I hit a problem where a script that should return one of a list of files to be played is returning the same one each time. This is obviously not an ices problem, it's what ices did with it that bugs me. Here's the error: [2003-08-12 12:17:26] DBUG playlist-script/playlist_script_get_filename Program/script ("/usr/bin/egosched") returned filename

Howto stream using icecast/ices bit rate peeled ogg files
Hi: Actually, if the stream were to peal to the best quality dependent on a listener's bandwidth, the capability would have to be in icecast, surely. Directory listing disappeared
Hi: Last week, I upgraded an icecast2 server and enabled the directory code. The primary streams that run on it showed up nicely. As some may recall, I had issues with libshout compiling (seems the sources got hosed somehow, a fresh checkout fixed everything after all else failed), and I just compiled the latest ices2. I noticed, with some surprise, that the config file hadn't changed in

Feature request: Allow remote hostname token for User option
Is there a specific reason the %h token isn't available to the User option? I'm trying to configure my local ssh_config to connect to remote systems through a CyberArk PSM proxy and it functions by taking several connection parameters for the downstream destination as username elements. One of those needed elements is the remote host, which is available on %h, but that can't be

Question/Feature Request
Using Ices2, is it possible to take 2 mono sources that are presented to the soundcard as the left and right channel, and make each of them a seperate mount point? My sources are all low bandwidth mono, and I would love to have a second stream without having to add a second soundcard or a second machine. I looked through the documentation, but I don't recall seeing this specific ability.

ice2 CVS build problems under Solaris 7
Hi: If you want to use icecast 2 for streaming vorbis audio then don't get it from the CVS repository at icecast.org. That's ancient developer stuff in there. Instead get it from the xiph.org CVS repository (see http://www.xiph.org/cvs.html which I see now lists the icecast stuff (yay!). You'll need the icecast module plus the avl, httpp, log, net, thread and timing modules (check

Icecast Newbie Questions
Nice! Im running linux... So ices for the backup streams and resampled to a lower bps.... Now I just need to figure out how to limit the bps of the live source... Maybe using 2 icecast and streamtranscoder right?
