PXE boot Centos 4.0beta problems
Has anyone yet tried PXE booting the vmlinuz/initrd.img
set from Centos 4.0beta2?
I have a pxelinux setup that is booting 3.4 PXE images
fine, but the equivalent setup for 4.0beta loads the
kernel and then splashes the monitor full of multicolor
random characters. Not a good start to an install...
Anyone had luck? Any changes for PXE boots known for 4.0?
Thanks in advance.

php-snmp : spec, rpms, srpms.
Hello,
I just built a complete php suite including php-snmp
RPM. (php-snmp-4.3.2-19.ent.i386.rpm). I inspired myself from this
bugzilla page: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/beta/show_bug.cgi?id=123149
can I upload binaries, sources and specfile somewhere to share it with
you ? I was thinking about "Extras" repository ? why not ?

disabling console blanking ?
Hi!
Some of my centos's servers (poweredge 850/ centos 4.3) are crashing for
any reason, and so i wanna get screen (kernel) output afterward. Problem
is when the server is crashed and the screen blanked, a keypress
doesn't do anything at all.
Here it is what i've tried _from a ssh session_ :
- setterm -blank 0 and many combinations.
- "noacpi" boot option ...
Any ideas ?

Xen performance (very slow) problem with 4GB of RAM.
I just took the x64 CentOS 5.1/Xen system I've been working on and
upgraded from 2GB to 4GB of memory. Fresh minimal install of the OS (to
remove some 3.2 stuff I had done trying to make PCI passthrough work).
No special options, just a flat out default install.
Dom0 is incredibly slow, I haven't tried DomU's yet to see if they are
affected. X in particular is impressively slow

Will Firefox 2.X be included/supported in CentOS 5?
I know this mostly depends on what is/will be done upstream, but with
the recent announcement that Firefox 1.5.X will only receive updates
until April 24, 2007, is Firefox 2.X in CentOS' future?

4.92 Beta questions.
Installing through PXE, interactively from an NFS source. The
installer is in text mode even though I have 512MB of memory.
Two questions.
1. When installing package sets, I do not see an "Everything" option
the way there was in 4.x. Should there be? I also don't recall being
asked if I wanted Server/Workstation/Custom groupings.
2. When partitioning the disk, if I

Can someone explain this statement?
I was reading through the doc''s last night and made a bunch of notes. One of the things that I wanted to learn more about was this statement:
As Puppet matures, it
expected that the file element will be used less and less to
manage content, and instead native elements will be used to do so.
Can someone please explain what this means, what the plan is, and what type of concept you are

RPM rebuild, cross compiling from x86 to x86_64
Hi
I want to recompile some RPMs (my own) for x86_64 arch from my i386
compatible build host (because of hardware restriction/funds).Is anyone
ever done this ? After a google search, it seems not so easy... i just
found this: http://www.speedblue.org/cross_compilation/ but haven't
tried it yet (i would have to convert these to RPM first).
How is it done for Centos SRPMS rebuilds ? is it a

What is the REAL version of Xen in 5.1?
I have a 5.1 system with Xen installed. The package says 3.0.3, but an 'xm info' shows 3.1.
So what is it? Is it 3.0.3 patched to 3.1 or is it 3.1 packaged as 3.0.3? And if it's the former, does anybody have any idea why upstream wouldn't just deploy 3.1 (now 3.1.2) which is more stable?
