Quick Question on Autocompleter Parameters
Hello,
Is it possible to send the current value of a second form element with
the AJAX request on the Autocompleter? At the moment, I initialise the
Autocompleter on page load, so any parameters passed in the constructor
are given the value set at page load time. I need to obviously pass in
the value of the second form element when the autocompleter is called.
Does this function already exist,

Extending the AJAX autocompleter
Hi (I think Thomas?),
I am trying to extending the AJAX autocompleter here, and would need
to pass on additional params to the Framework I am using which is
taking on the request.
For this, I have changed the onObserverEvent function in controls.js
as to the following:
onObserverEvent: function() {
this.changed = false;
if(this.element.value.length>=this.options.min_chars) {

Prototype Inheritance example
Hello Everyone,
I am working on a control collection for javascript/Ajax.Net. I am stuck on
the class inheritance aspects of the prototype library. If someone could
point me to an example it would be a great help. I have looked through the
controls.js of the scriptaculous library and found something like the below
code, but everytime I ran it I would get a constructor error.
Thanks for any help;

AJAX Drag and Drop Detecting Drop Coordinates
This one''s kicking me in the *(&#^. All I want to do is create a draggable
item and then detect the coordinates where it is dropped. So my first
approach was to just use the draggable_element with :revert => false, like
so:
<%= draggable_element "my_element", :revert => false %>
That works great and lets me drag stuff all over the place. In the

Trouble combining :has_many, :finder_sql and :conditions to create a sub-search
I''m sure there''s something right under my nose that I''m missing. I
have two tables with two parallel one-to-many relationships. I wish to
use the :finder_sql parameter to essentially ''or'' the two foreign
keys.
What isn''t working for me is performing a ''sub-search''.
Let''s say the tables are "stores" and

Autocompleter question
Hey all,
When using the Ajax.autocompleter, how would I configure it so that the
user is searching based on an entry''s name, but once they select an entry, I
record the ID?
I have the user entering a person''s name in a text box to make it easier
to find contacts in a large database. I know that I can display content
that doesn''t end up in the textbox by using

RE: Leak in the Autocompleter, with scrollable result-div ?
Hi Ed
The reason it adds a new onblur is because when you click the scrollbar the
event is gone. I dont know why and how to prevent it, but without adding it
back the onblur does not get triggered and the layer does not hide when you
click somewhere else on the page. If anyone finds a better solution, please
provide a patch.
I still have not been able to make the blur work on Safari, so Thomas

RE: Leak in the Autocompleter, with scrollable result-div ?
Tommy,
Every time the Autocomplete results is blur()'d, it adds another onblur
event observer (because of "Event.observe(this.update, "blur",
this.onBlur.bindAsEventListener(this),true); // make sure blur is still
around on") which leads to a performance problem / memory leak.
(Commenting it out seems to fix this problem.)
I was wondering why it was there?
Thanks again,

sorting error "Error: item.id has no properties"
I''ve got some sorting working now, but when the page loads and when I
drag, I keep getting this error:
"Error: item.id has no properties"
My <ul> and <li> elements all have ids. Do child elements all need ids?
Here''s the code from dragdrop.js where the error is being thrown ( a
few lines from the bottom of the file, line 501--HEAD version)

Workshops or groups in Boston?
I have been hearing a lot about workshops and/or groups of Ruby on
Rails users meeting up in numerous cities, but I haven''t been too
successful finding any such gatherings or events in Boston. On the
wiki there is a link to a Boston group for Ruby, but the page refuses
to load. Anyone from the Boston area know of anything?

autocompleter competing with saved form data in firefox
Hi all,
I have used the sciptaculous Ajax autocompleter a few times now. A
major problem I have at the moment is with a text field that has focus
when a page loads. The text field has an autocompleter associated with
it, but when the user starts typing, the firefox saved form data
autocompleter appears first, and the scriptaculous one is partially
hidden behind it.
Has anyone else encountered

Autocompleter Problems

I''m trying to get autocomplete to work but have been having some problems.
It seems that Ajax.Autocompleter(...) is not getting called. I''ve put in a

Autocompleter: displaying resuts-div on focus
Hi,
In the last two days I posted 4 different questions to this forums, but
no single answer... Is it personal ? ;-)
Anywayz I continue trying, so maybe I have luck this time...
The question: in an autocomplete component, is it possible to make the
results-div apear when the text field is getting focus?
Thanx in advance,
Ron
