Scriptaculous + Prototype shrunk to < 50Kb
Maybe I''m anal but I like fat-free JS, so I pulled the Proptotype and core Scriptaculous files into one single JS file at 49Kb. It''s "packed" so if you care about that kind of thing, it''s also "obfuscated". Download from my personal site at www.alistercameron.com. - Alister PS. Of course this is the current version as posted on the

Javascript compression / How to hook in to rails development
Hi there, I thought it''s rather neat to use the javascript compression from http://dojotoolkit.org/docs/compressor_system.html This removes javascript comments and renames variables and seems pretty reliable and effective. For example, I keep the original htmlarea.js file from http://xinha.gogo.co.nz/ in a file htmlarea.js.txt and it compresses from 200K to 100K. With gzip it

Documentation generator?
I''m looking for a documentation generator for JavaScript code that can handle the coding style used in prototype.js and script.aculo.us. Any recommendations for such a tool? In a similar vein, does it make a noticeable difference in production when comments are removed and several script files are combined into a single one? Michael -- Michael Schuerig Most people

Basic subscribe-loading-unsubscribe button
(This is a beginners'' question) I can''t seem to find this in the wiki or in the list archives. Button says "subscribe". User clicks. Button says "loading". Then button says "unsubscribe". (or the other way round) Apologies for the simplicity of the question, but any help is appreciated. Thanks, Peter

OT: Debugging iBook --- help
This is way OT, but here goes... I''ve had an iBook for 2 days now and am debugging a web built with prototype/script aculo / windows / etc... I have no real experience on a Mac. Occasionally, there''s no better way to debug JavaScript than an alert in a loop... Once I have the information information I want from the alert, the loop may want to execute another 300 times. I

gmail attached file field magic
Hello, does someone knows how gmail does file upload when the attached files are automatically saved in drafts ? I am trying to do it in Scriptalicious/Prototype but I don''t see how they get the file on the system using js... Merge, Compact Ofuscate or Compress Javascript Lib ?
Hi !, A little question about JS Lib manipulation... - I found that DOJO toolkit gives a DOJO Compressor jar file to compress JavaScript http://dojotoolkit.org/docs/compressor_system.html - On the other hand there''s no docs in Prototype or Scriptaculous and prototype files are merged. Why ??? 1. Compacting file will reduce bandwidth but is it useful with a server that gzip .js ? 2.

I''m not sure if this has been discussed, but is there a public tree control based on prototype/script.aculo.us? ZKoss
Hi All, Has anyone here used zkoss.org? What do you think of it in comparison to scriptaculous? -- Leonard Burton, N9URK http://www.jiffyslides.com service-CbOvBfcOUrWrJCssh9Shfg@public.gmane.org leonardburton-Re5JQEeQqe8AvxtiuMwx3w@public.gmane.org "The prolonged evacuation would have dramatically affected the survivability of the occupants."

back button support
Hello, I was just wondering what clever ways all the Ajax developers out there have come up with to add back button support to their web apps. I have seen a couple different ways on the net, but neither of them look very complete. Ideally, I would like a solution where I could modify Ajax.Updater to keep track of which pages where loaded into which elements, then create a function like

Dynamically printing a page
Does anyone know of a cross browser solution to print a page/url after a user clicks a button? Currently, I''m using a "hidden" iframe to do my bidding. But from my experience, IE requires that the iframe''s src attribute be set initially to the url, in order for the page to open properly. I wasn''t able to add the iframe to the page dynamically, either. So

Sortable and the Server
I want to build a sortable list that updates the server when the item is dropped into its new position. How to create a sortable list is clear, but I''m looking for an example of how to integrate this with the server side. Are there any examples or tutorials around? I''m working in a java environment. Thanks, Jamie

Draggables and overflow div''s revisited
I have two scrollable div''s (overflow:auto), one with a list of elements (the source) and the other is the drop target (dest). I''ve enabled ghosting so that the drag element gets out of the scrollable box (good). Interesting, at least on Firefox, the ghosted drag ends up going ''under'' the destination div when I drag it. No amount of z-order fidding seems to

Implementing a boolean "switch" in a Class
I need a single boolean which would be "globally" accessible to all instances of a class. Seems like the boolean should be in the class prototype, but I was troubled by the difficulty of setting the prototype boolean to true. Maybe I''m missing something? var MyObject = Class.create(); MyObject.prototype = { bSwitch: false, ... other methods and properties } var oMyOb1

Status of Prototype
Hi *, we are using prototype in Apache MyFaces as our javascript library of choice. Recently, there has been much discussion on our mailing list as to the usability of prototype in a dynamic environments where several javascript libraries are used. The critics of prototype argue that the prototype objects are not namespaced - and that prototype extends basic javascript-objects with method names

Ajax Tabbed Browsing
I was wondering if anyone has done this, namely make tabbed browsing exactly like a web browser, but have it within the page. I would like to make a search function that updates a section of the page with the results, as well as makes a new tab that displays those search results. Then, if a user did 5 searches, there would be 5 tabs. Each tab would hide the other 4 results and show the

Why Struts2 use dojo instead of Scriptaculous?
Hi, I''m using prototype/Scriptaculous in my open source project JSControlsTags http://jscontrolstags.sourceforge.net/ I''m Struts user and in the new version Struts2, the framework integrate AJAX with dojo and not with Prototype/Scriptaculous. I asked in the Struts forum, why Struts2 integrate by default dojo and not scriptaculous. Here Struts answer : ------------------------

back button for AJAX in rails
Greetings all, I am wondering are there any thing like link_to_remote(:update, :url) in rails which preserves the navigation feature (back & forward button as well as bookmarks) of the browser? Thanks very much! Cheers, Difei -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google
