This makes sense since the Minimize plugin is used by default, which is a lightweight animation provider that some people/distributions might prefer over Animation. I have installed Compiz-Fusion on several Ubuntu machines, all different hardware, with KDE. In all of them, the option to shutdown or reset the computer is absent from the KDE logout buttons when running Compiz-Fusion. Hi, Here is a simple patch that adds an option to the Fade plugin to enable/disable fading on minimize/open/close window events. This option is on by default but can be disabled to avoid conflicts with the Animation plugin. Fading on other stuff (fade during nonresponding app. desaturation, during switcher, and visual bell) shouldn't be affected (which is the main point of this patch).

The place plugin has a bug: when compiz is restarted or started to replace another wm it the windows are placed in weird positions ( titlebar behind the panel etc.) shouln't the place plugin loop over all open windows and place them correctly when loaded? this should solve this issues. any reason why this isn't done? have I missed something or is this just a bug?

I just pushed some code into the compiz repository for initial metacity theme support. It's not complete, left and right borders are not rendered correctly, button decorations doesn't always match event window locations, maximized and shaded windows are not rendered as when running metacity, button locations are not configurable as with metacity... but it still seem to look OK with most
