Fun Wine Project -- Configure Some Default Registry Entries
My first post.
Fun Wine Project -- Configure Some Default Registry Entries
I've begun working on this to import some native calls into wine. More
specifically, OpenOffice.org. I'm trying to get Lotus Notes attachments to
display proper icons, and open natively with OOo.
I've come across a dilemma. I can't seem to "easily" open a Windows path,

Running Counterstrike - Half Life
Hey all,
Two issues with HL-CS.
First, my system specs:
XFree 4.2.0 stock Redhat one - January 23. 4.2.0-8
Redhat 7.3 - WineX(and Wine 20020228)
512mb RAM
Matrox G400 card.
All my OpenGL stuff works(ie. HL in single player mode, with the nice voice
over narration et al.)
So first issue: On startup, halflife complains that
Could not open MCI file for playback: 266: There is an undetectable

No Server Browsing in Half Life / CS / Return to Wolfenstein
For some reason TCP/IP apps (Ultima Online, mIRC, etc.) work fine, but
when I go to browse servers for Internet Games in Half Life /
Counterstrike / etc.. can't get a server list, no error, just 0 servers.
No, there are no filters on or anything and I hit update and refresh and
still a no go; Yes, Everything works fine in Windows. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.

Half-Life + Wine (and other programs I suppose...) Recommendation!!!
Ive tried very hard to get Half-Life to run on my Linux box...and I have
finally managed to get it to work...the problem (the BIG problem) was
that I was trying to use an installed version of windows as the
basis of wine. It worked fine with most programs...but not Half-Life and
some other games...
My recommendation is that you dont use a preinstalled version of windows
as the basis of a wine

Wine is hiding "explorer folder boxes" content.
Hi everyone !
Please have a look below :

This box should show my personal folders, currently obviously don't display right now [Shocked]
I think I have others things like these, some texts I can't see in some particular windows (emule.exe for example: texts in connection log won't show up). I'm certainly missing something in

*I have a Ham Radio program, named CQ100, it works fine using WINDOZE,
but when I installed the same program on my linux system everything
works except there is no-audio I'am using Ubuntu 7.10 linux...
The author told me that windoze uses GSM 6.10 codec, plus ACM audio
compression manager, these are built-in...
So by anychance does anyone know of a program that one can get to use on

After years - goodbye to Wine-Users
After being on this list for years, mostly as a lurker and sometime
participant, I find that due specifically to the new changes in list
membership via the forums that it's time for me to unsubscribe. While
I think it's a very healthy in the long run to have more folks
participating in Wine's growth I also find the quality of the emails
coming across my desk to be significantly less

Yahoo Messenger 8, almost working except it crashes on login :(
Hey! :D
I figured that with the latest WINE (compiled from source, it took a
damn half hour) Yahoo Messenger 8 starts up cool, but when I try to
login it says that the network is unavailable (the common yahoo
error)...
HOWEVER if I change the settings and set it to "Firewall with no
proxies" (so it tries another method, I had to use that some years ago
when I had shared internet with a

Mailing list <-> forum gateway
Hi all,
First off - this is not flame bait or a troll. It's a genuine question.
Since the forum gateway was introduced, it is my opinion that this list
is getting flooded with newbie questions. Check the "I just installed
Ubuntu" thread for a typical example.
I wish to silently remove all wine-forum posts and their replies from my
inbox. I plan to filter based on

A few questions about trying to fix WINE for running a game correctly
Hi people :)
Eating dinner today I came up with the idea of installing Most Wanted
and try to get it working correctly. It has two issues: Carreer mode
doesn't start after the first FMV, and sound stutters/hangs forever
after 2-3 secs of starting any quick race.
I have some knowledge of C/C++, or at least I think I'm ready to start
"hacking" at WINE's code. However there

Half-Life, hanging on "loading" screen (singleplayer)
Hi,
I installed Half-Life via wine on to boxes today, one with a Voodoo3 and one
with a TNT-2, everything went fine, upgraded to the newst Half-Life Version
(1.1.1.0). Now: On the Voodoo3 box, I can play singleplayer, works like charm
(maybe a bit choppy sometimes, but that's barable.
On the TNT-2 box, when I go singleplayer, after "Loading..." wine gives "wine:

Half-Life forgets settings
Hi all,
I got Half-Life installed successfully (yeah! :) and I can launch it, too.
Next I set up some settings, e.g. cd key, video mode etc. But HL doesn't
save these values. Next time I start HL, I'm asked again for the cd key etc.
I think that's a problem with the registry. But I don't know which trees to
edit to save this stuff. Any hints?
Thanks,
Tilman
