Installation of Rails without ''gem install rails''
I am wondering if anyone has any procedural documentation for installing and using Rails from the standalone packages rather then via ''gem install''. It seems there should be some steps outside of simply unpacking the tar ball in order to integate it with your Ruby installation. Seems every bit of installation documentation I can find has ''gem install

IEEE_754 logic
Can anybody of the architects of R enlighten me about the reasoning behind the selection of the IEEE 754 mode for the building of R, please? Special points of interest are: 1. The selection seems to be based on the availability of isnan() and finite(). Is this a common way to test for IEEE 754? 2. The C9x draft introduces isfinite() instead of finite() (and as I see, some systems, e.g. the

Unable to load foreign after upgrade on ubuntu
I am running R on ubuntu dapper. The version that is in the ubuntu repos is 2.2.1, so I decided to upgrade by adding deb http://cran.R-project.org/bin/linux/ubuntu dapper/ to my sources.list, as advised on the web page. After sudo apt-get update and upgrade, I have version 2.3.1. However, when I try to load the library 'foreign', I get the following error: Error in dyn.load(x,

Compiling CUDA with clang on Windows
Dear all, In the official document <https://llvm.org/docs/CompileCudaWithLLVM.html>, it is mentioned that CUDA compilation is supported on Windows as of 2017-01-05. I used msys2 to install clang 5.0.1. Then I installed cuda 8.0. However, I basically could not compile any code of cuda by the prescribed setting. I wounder if anyone can successfully compile cuda code by the clang on Windows.

Problems compiling libraries with todays snapshot.
I am currently running Slakware V3.4 with g77 and R is a 0.62 snapshot of the 27th of May. There appear to be linking problems with the libraries. The error output from mva and eda can be found below. My own libraries also have similar problems. Errors when compiling mva: 116 /usr/local/src/R/src/library #R INSTALL mva Warning: package `-html' does not exist Warning: package `-latex'
