DST changes for the US
After palying around to set this correctly (or so I think, please
correct me if I got something wrong) I decided to share it with
everyone.
For Polycom phones in sip.cfg change the following line from:
<SNTP tcpIpApp.sntp.resyncPeriod="86400"
tcpIpApp.sntp.address="" tcpIpApp.sntp.gmtOffset=""
tcpIpApp.sntp.daylightSavings.enable="1"

Fwd: Polycom phone time behind one hour.
Tried to submit this email this morning and didn't see it in the list. I apologize if it is a dupe.
I've inherited a customized Asterisk installation. After the past time change all clocks in my office are behind by one hour. After some digging it appears we have:
A /tftproot/sip.conf that is being pushed out to our phones.
I found the following line that seems to be what controls

Avaya 4610sw SIP setup problem
Hi all,
I've been pulling my hair out for two days over this problem... I did *a
lot* of Googling around, I searched the list archives to no avail - no
one has the same problem!
I have two Avaya 4610sw phones. I installed the latest SIP firmware
using the TFTP server. So far everything looks good. Each time the phone
boots, it retrieves the 46xxsettings.txt from the TFTP server. My

Polycom NTP issue
I am ready to pull my hair out. I cannot seem to get the Polycoms to read
the time properly. Regardless of the server they are pointed to our the
offset, i am getting the correct time, but 24 hours ahead. So for today it
is showing Friday April 28 but with the correct time. Any clues?

Polycom Questions
Any Polycom gurus out there? If so, I have a few config file questions.
First off, does anyone have the daylight savings time rules written for
this Sunday's big change?
Secondly, if there any way in the config file to tell the phone not to
display the number of missed calls? I don't mind it keeping the missed
calls list, I just don't want that running count.
Lastly, I am trying

Polycom phones w/ two lines on different servers
Hi all -
This isn't really directly Asterisk related, but has anyone successfully
set up a Polycom phone to register two lines on two different Asterisk
boxes? I can get the first line to register, but the second one does not.
I can still place calls from that second line, which indicates to me the
server, user, and secret are correct. I'm running the newest 2.6 series
firmware with the

Polycom IP 600 - 1.3.1
I am getting to my wits end with these phones (and so is my boss). I am
getting an random echo on these phones and I have an issue opened with
Polycom and its been in their research and development department for
almost a month with no results.
I have noticed that I get a message "RFC3389 support incomplete. Turn
off on client if possible" in asterisk. I have researched this and made

package to convert coordiantes to timezone
Is there a R-package with a function that returns me the timezone, if
I hand over longitude and latitude?
I know online services like
http://ws.geonames.org/timezone?lat=-38.01&lng=147 and
http://www.earthtools.org/webservices.htm#timezone and wodner if this
exists for R too.
Thanks for helping,

Avaya 9608G and DHCP and TFTP and HTTP oh my
Right-- I've seen the Avaya document you cite below. It says "To administer DHCP option 242, make a copy of an existing option 176" but I don't have any example of option 176 or 242 to copy, and don't know what to do to /etc/dhcpd.conf to make it offer option 242.
Then there's this long table of parameters to use with (presumably) option 242.
I was hoping someone had a

Polycom 1.5.2 firmware NTP problems
I'm running SIP 1.5.2 firmware with a 2.6.2 bootrom on a mix of Polycom
500s and 501s. I'm having a problem with NTP and I'm not sure if it's a
configuration issue or a bug in the firmware.
I've got the NTP server and GMT offset set in sip.cfg. However, not all
phones are in the same timezone. I was under the impression that I could
override the offset on a per-phone basis

asterisk & chan_sccp
ive got asterisk running with chan_sccp and three cisco phones (2 7910's and 1
7960). lots of bugs. when i press the speed dial button on either 7910,
asterisk dies. also, if i dial from the 7910 to 7910, everything works fine.
i can dial from or to the 7960 once, and then one of the 10's and the 60 die
and try to reregister.
if i take the 7960 out of the mix and remove its

Polycom SPIP config
Has any one ever worked with placing idle display images onto the Polycom
SPIP331 phones? I have got it working but when the image is displayed the
clock is moved to the top of the screen. That is great but it scrolls
between the clock and the registered extension(s) . Has anyone figured out
a way to stop the scrolling and just display the time? If so could you
provide me the configuration

Call Queue advise
I have a call queue that rings about 15 users and they are wanting to set
it up so that the last person to answer a call doesn't ring on the next
incoming call.
What would be the best way to handle this? I have been looking at the
strategies and none of those seem to be right for this. My current
thoughts are probably a macro that places a penalty on the user tell the
next call is answered.

SCCP problem with ATA188, Asterisk@home and chan_sccp
Hi,
This is a message I already posted on the chan_sccp mailing list, but since this list has a lot of active members, I'm hoping someone might be able to help (And my problem is * related, so I guess it's ok if I post it here also ;) ).
I'm trying to get SCCP ATA188s to run with Asterisk.
The Asterisk box uses the latest Asterisk@Home image (Version 2.6).
I have compiled and

flickr like DST timezone management
Hello everyone
I wonder if anyone can point me to the library for timezone management
with DST support, which has timezones, like flickr has. I know that
there is TZInfo, but it''s a bit different for it has huge list of
available timezones in ''Continent/City'' format. I would like my
application to have timezones list more like on flickr (or windows
regional settings) -

dst cache overflow in 2.6.8
There appears to be a pretty serious router bug in kernel 2.6.8. One
reference to it is here:

and a followup that it may now be fixed in later kernels here:

This is my personal experience with it....
