dial and bridge
Hi all, I need some advice - I have been working on originating multiple calls using AMI and then joining them. What I want to do is: - dial call 1 (where the caller is in a "channel" format, like SIp/1234 or Local/1234 at ext) and "park" it somehow - dial call 2 (where again the caller is in channel format) and join it to the previous call. As a requirement, I cannot use the

WebRTC softphone for Asterisk - any suggestion?

1.6, t.38 and zoiper - t38_udptl or t38pt_udptl ?
Hi, 1. Has anyone got any success when send a TIFF file form one zoiper softphone to another ? I tried using Zoiper 2.18 free edition in windows but I'm seeing 415 Unsupported media replies. 2. Here (http://www.voipinfo.org/wiki/view/Asterisk+T.38), you can read : "Also, try using: t38_udptl=yes t38pt_rtp=no t38pt_tcp=no ... in the general section of the sip.conf and under the VoIP

jitterbuffers - suggested settings
Hi, I was wondering if anyone else has a similar setup and can suggest settings for the jitterbuffer: I have a client with an ADSL connection at site A & B with site A being dedicated to voice and having no Asterisk server, site B combining voice and data with traffic shaping and housing an Asterisk server. There seems to be packet loss / jitter on this connection and I wanted to know

Pet project: one step Asterisk compile on Centos 7
Hi all, I thought I'd share I script I made (based on some of Leif's works) that lets you download, compile and install Asterisk all in one go; and then removed the dev tools used. We use it quite a bit to provision systems using Ansible, but it is easier than remembering everything every time even if you are using a shell. At the moment I have scripts for Centos 7 and Asterisk 13, but

Sample Docker images for Asterisk available
Hello all, I created a set of Docker images running Asterisk and exposing AMI / ARI ports that i found to be quite useful for ARI / AMI development and regression. As they are based on Docker with whaleware, adding new configuration files to roll your own dialplan / queues / voicemail etc is pretty easy. And you can run quite a lot on the same box to simulate clusters. There is no SIP / RTP

amiDebugger - might make your life easier if you program through the AMI
Hi all, I have been playing with the AMI quite a bit lately - mostly debugging WombatDialer in production, but that's a different story - and I have been frustrated by the lack of a simple way to interact CLI-like with the AMI itself. So I have decided to write something myself to make my life easier, or at least a bit less miserable. The result is a little webapp that you can use as a sort

Re: BRI cards, HFC, and bristuff - a general questionto clear up my understanding.
Does anyone test Asterisk 1.2.X + bristuff-0.3.X and TDM card? We can't get it to work. -David -----Original Message----- From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com] On Behalf Of Julian J. M. SMP Performance
We're looking at implementing Asterisk in our department in the near future, we're looking at anywhere from 15-25 extensions. The machine we were looking at running this on was a Quad Xeon 450mhz (2MB L2 Cache) w/ 1GB of ram. I've heard bad things about running Asterisk on SMP machines? Would we be running into any performance issues with this machine? Tim Jackson Network Engineer

IAX2 Vs SIP cpu load
Hello Is it correct that IAX2 uses more CPU, than SIP? Also, can it be true that IAX2 is much more sensitive against high CPU loads? Also, does Asterisk support and use multiprocessor architectures, such as Xeon? ? Regards Jon -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. G729 license counting
Hello, How many licenses to buy?? : From what we understood from digium website, we must buy as many licenses as the number of maximum simultaneous calls using G729 Codec we wish to make. For example, If we want to be able to make a maximum of 10 simultaneous calls using G729 Codec, we must buy 10 licenses. Is it right? Thanks you

CDR datasets
Hello list, I have been working lately on a small CDR parsing utility, and would like to do some performance testing on it. I am looking for some - possibly large - real-life Asterisk CDR datasets to run some performance monitoring. Anybody's got some CDRs that can be shared? Thanks in advance, l. -- Loway Research - Home of QueueMetrics http://queuemetrics.com

Re: BRI cards, HFC, and bristuff - a generalquestionto clear up my understanding.
Thanks. I think our problem ca be similar. Have you tried to call from analog phone #1 to another analog phone #2? It works. But when you try to call vice versa from #2 to #1 it does not work. When you restart asterisk it works again - but only one direction. -David ________________________________ From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com

SIPP load testing - unexpected message - anyone using sipp sucessfully ?
Hi, I'd like to test Asterisk performance under more concurrent sip calls. I use Sipp, but do get "Unexpected message for Call-ID ...", so I wonder if anyone is using sipp succesfully with Asterisk and is willing to share more info about his solution ... Any other convenient way to load test Asterisk ? Is sipp the right tool ? Thanks in advance, regards, Rob. sipp: The

noise gate for asterisk?
Hi list, I have a client with a strange requirement: putting a noise gate on the Asterisk channel. For those who are not familiar with them, noise gates are used in musical instruments to avoid entering low-level noise into the amp system. What they basically do is, they measure the volume of the channel, and when it's too low they just let the channel close, i.e send perfect silence,

Quality monitoring
Does anyone out there have a recommendation for tools that will monitor the quality of VoIP systems? I am looking for jitter and MOS monitoring. I have a custom Nagios plugin that is alerting me if the jitter jumps out of a 20ms but I am looking for a little more detail. I would not be against writing something in Perl for Nagios to do but I don't really know where to start on measuring jitter

Calculating R Factor and MOS metrics for VoIP
Hello All, MOS and R factor are the two QoS parameters used to estimate VoIP call quality. I have found that they are calculated from other metrics like jitter, latency, packet loss,...etc. But, haven't found any formula or arithmetic rule to calculate them. Do you have an idea about their formulas or an open source that calculates them. Is it possible to interpret them from wireshark.

New tutorial: DTMF tone detection
Hello list, I have prepared a small tutorial today that deals with how to avoid Asterisk rebuilding DTMF tones when using it to connect industial appliances that use DTMF. You can find it at: http://astrecipes.net/index.php?n=248 I know it isn't everybody's piece of cake, but I thought somebody could be interested as well :) l. -- Home of QueueMetrics -
