Complete list of possible ogginfo warning and error messages
Hello,
I want to check my collection of hundreds of ogg files for potential
problems. As far as I know, "ogginfo -v" is as comprehensive as it gets.
However, using the "-v" option causes the output to be VERY VERY long when
there are hundreds of files to check. I need a way to skim the output and
only look at warnings and errors. In order to do that I need to know the

ogginfo: playlength display in milliseconds
Hello
Some time ago I posted a lil' patch to this list which adds milliseconds display of
playlength to ogginfo. Some folks replied that it's plausible and this patch will be
merged to the next version. Vorbistools-1.0.1 got out and the patch is not in it. Why?
Anyway, here's this patch for vorbistools-1.0.1. I hope this time you will include it,
because milliseconds support is

Volume changing à la MP3Gain?
Hullo,
There's a program called mp3gain which can be used to alter the volume
of an MP3 file in 1.5 dB steps. I once heard somewhere (I can't
remember *where*, but I swear) that something similar is possible with
Vorbis files, but in approximately 2.2 dB steps.
Is this true, or is my memory at fault? If it's possible to change the
volume of a Vorbis 1.0 file, could someone please

Vorbis comment support in WMP
Hullo,
http://wmptagext.sourceforge.net/
This program claims to add APEv2 tagging support for various formats
to Windows Media Player. Its Vorbis support is incomplete (it adds
APEv2 to .ogg files!) but I hope the media library functionality can
be integrated with Illiminable's DirectShow filters.
I haven't really tried it yet. YMMV.

Some comments on the Vorbis FAQ
Hi,
http://www.vorbis.com/faq/#mean points to
http://www.xiph.org/xiphname.html, which is dead. The actual content
is at http://www.xiph.org/xiphname.shtml
The Xiph names page seems to be in UTF-8, but its meta tag mentions
ISO 8859-15, which can cause problems with raw characters for the
pronunciations.
I propose the use of the International Phonetic Alphabet. How about

vorbis-tools CVS
Coming out of a long (but definately needed) silence for a moment:
A few things for vorbis-tools, since I no longer have CVS access (I
think I just misplaced that key):
1. Before anything, put oggchain out of its misery. Please. It's a
pile of junk that should have never been committed. Any smidgen of
usefulness from it belongs in ogginfo anyway (and it's already there).
2. ./autogen.sh

Virtio Balloon- Can not see the results
with kvm and virtio- would -m 1024 take proceedence over -balloon
virtio? when i use both together, i see memory stay around 1024 MB less on my host side. I know the guest is not taking but a fraction of that ram, so I would expect the virtio balloon to take the majority of the guests ram and hand it back to the host. this is using the free util/command to take snapshots of the host memory.?

Flac files differ?
Hi.
Is it normal that if I encode the same file with the same options,..
that the encoded files have same size but are different?
Best wishes,
Chris.

vorbis-tools: %Ld format specifier
Andrew Williams <andrew.s.williams@adelaide.edu.au> has tipped me
off that vorbis-tools uses a format specifier "%Ld" in vcut/vcut.c
and ogginfo/ogginfo2.c. This is plain wrong. The L modifier only
applies to floating point. The modifier corresponding to "long long"
is ll, e.g. "%lld".

Yet Another Vorbis Portable
Hullo, folks.
As the wiki is *still* down, I'm sending this to the list again.
The EZAV EMP-400 is a small flash-based portable player with an OLED
screen. I think it's still in development, because I can't find
information on its pricing anywhere. The memory capacity isn't visible
anywhere either, but the previous device from EZAV had 256 megs of
memory.

Firefox plugin to auto convert audio files into Ogg
per > http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=63653
The above thread on the Fedora Forums about a script that can
automatically convert one audio format to another got me thinking >
wouldn't it be fantastic to be able to right click on an MP3 (or other
audio file) while in Firefox, and automatically have the file
converted into Ogg at the same time as the file is being saved

Hi,
Hi, thank you for closing ticket 543, "vorbiscomment man page not
exhaustive". :)
https://trac.xiph.org/ticket/543
If it's not too much of a burden, could you also apply this patch,
please? It's pretty straight-forward. Thank you. :)
Cheers,

Vendor id - vorbis 1.1
The download of the above still shows an id of: "Xiph.Org libVorbis I

Shouldn't this have been updated to: "Xiph.Org libVorbis I 20040920"?

Concerning 'tagging proposal'
Hi,
It is my opinion that a 'tagging standard' which aims to cater to everyone,
caters to noone. Tagging style ultimately depend upon tagging tastes; I
personally think it would be unwise to try to match everybody's tastes.
Now, having a 'tagging proposal' instead of a 'tagging standard,' hardly
seems worth the effort, to put it mildly. I doubt anyone would want to

Some notes on the FAQ
Hi. : )
I was updating my unofficial Korean Ogg Vorbis FAQ, when I noticed the following:
While #ext is no longer listed in the FAQ contents, http://www.vorbis.com/faq.psp#ext still exists.
IMHO http://www.vorbis.com/faq.psp#stream looks a little awkward. I suggest something like: Icecast streams Ogg vorbis to playsers like XMMS, Winamp 2, and foobar2000, which are all capable of...
