embedded pictures in vorbis comments?
Hello,
I'd like to ask about the possibility of embedding pictures like an album cover artwork into a vorbis comment header. Since the data in a comment string after the separating "=" has a defined length, this could theoretically also be binary picture data. For example
"PICTURE=[...any binary data...]"
It only would be a problem for existing software which isn't

Album art - requirements
Hi,
there was a thread a few months ago about album art, and how to
embed it in an Ogg stream. The outcome was unconclusive, and kind
of settled on the existing practice of adding a uuencoded image
in a Vorbis comment, or similar.
A better solution would be to embed those images as a separate
stream, including hints as to what image represents (front cover,
back cover, etc). The obvious

using vorbiscomment
As far as I could find, nowhere in the documentation or even source
does it actually explain how to use vorbiscomment. Just a simple
"vorbiscomment reads TAG=VALUE pairs on separate lines from stdin"
would save people a lot of time. Of course, this is still a painful
tool to use, and since I had some .ogg's lying around with broken
comments (from my first ogg vorbis patch to grip),

Adviced way of tagging music
I change a lot of my CD to Ogg to be able to listen them easily from my
computer (I use foobar, I was used to WMP but it does not support library
for Ogg files and plug-ins I found for this where poor) without the need for
frequent CD changing.
I like my music to be richly tagged. But with classical music CD it is a
real pain to tag those files. Typical problems involve:

Hyphen in Vorbis Comment
Hello,
I am trying to tag some ogg vorbis files with hyphen "-" in the
comment field. For e.g. album name = Example - EP.
But this is being displayed as
ALBUM=Example
ALBUM=EP
Is there no way we can have a hyphen in the comments section?

[user] coverart and other tags
Hello,
I am new to using opus but so far I really am loving it. At 16kbps
spoken content sounds fabulous.
I am using opusenc on 64-bit linux - mostly with flac input.
The one thing I can't figure out how to do is add album art. I tried
passing the vorbis way of adding a metadata_block_picture comment field
to opusenc but it complained about the length.
I can't seem to find any

AW: embedded pictures in vorbis comments?
Hi,
I think we can start by defining an official field name at www.xiph.org/vorbis/doc/v-comment.html which is used as a file system link to an existing image file. I suggest the field name to be "PICTURE".
What is ogg MNG? Is it a container format for PNG files which should be embedded in OGG files?
If I understand correctly, the picture would be placed in a different logical stream

Ogg Vorbis and Images
Hello List, archives don't look very busy ...
I'm interested in putting art into Ogg Vorbis files.
This is for a project I'm working on with small local bands.
I'm attempting to help get them more exposure by (with permission)
distributing their music, especially recorded live from shows they do
where they are allowed to record it.
We are going with Ogg Vorbis frankly because

Feedback about Vorbis Comment Chapter Extension
Hallo again!
Some month ago we discussed about the Vorbis Comment Chapter Extension:
http://wiki.xiph.org/Chapter_Extension
I got some critics about this specification, especially from the VLC
developers:
see https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/6895
Some parts of it:

This specification allows holes between chapters and allows overlapping
chapters... And does not explain what to

Vorbis Winamp plugin
Howdah...
I am working on adding configuration and comment editing to the
OggVorbis Winamp plugin.
However I have currently banged my head against one major
problem. How the h... do you update an .ogg with the new
comments. Do I use the source in vorbiscomment (which doesn't
work with any .ogg I've tested) - or is there a better alternative?
A function for simply updating an ogg

Re: [xiph-commits] r14188 - trunk/vorbis-tools/vorbiscomment
I don't agree with the s/Ogg Vorbis/Vorbis/. vorbiscomment does edit Ogg
Vorbis files, not Vorbis streams in any other encapsulation.

[Flac-users] Can I use Vorbis comment on ogg - flac?
Hello flac-users,
I'm storing my ripped CDs on FLAC until Vorbis 1.0 gets out
(supposedly RSN). But I want to enter the vorbis comment just once.
Since I'll use ogg bitstream for both files, I was wondering if I could
use vorbiscomment or tOGGer on ogg-flac files? Is there any tool
(besides de pipe) to convert ogg-flac to ogg-vorbis?
Best regards,

Mac OS X / Darwin patch for vorbis-tools
This patch (along with all the previous patches) gets oggenc and ogg123 working. This does not get vorbiscomment working, although I assume that would be trivial -- just add the getopt stuff to the project just like I did in ogg123.
In addition to this patch, as I just mentioned, getopt1.c getopt.h and getopt.c need to be copied from oggenc to ogg123 and added.

Q: Tool to copy Vorbis comments to MP3 ID tags
Hi,
I'm wondering: If you have audio files like foo1.ogg and foo1.mp3, and the Vorbis
file has nice comments (title, tracknumber, artist, album, date, etc), is there a
tool to copy the information to an MP3 file on a "best effort" strategy?
I know that MP3 TAGs are quite limited regarding lengths.

copying comments from one ogg file to another
is there any way to do this?
say i have an ogg that originally came from a radio broadcast recording, and
i later obtain an ogg vorbis file encoded from the cd. i would want to copy
the comments from the first file to the second.
i had hoped ogginfo could do this, or else oggenc, but they cannot. (see my
previous email "downsampling/pealing bitrate from file1.ogg to file2.ogg",

newlines in vorbis comments
Is there any way to put a newline character in comments for ogg
vorbis files in Linux? I can't see any way of doing it with
vorbiscomment. Easytag would work, but has other problems
(like concatenating comment fields with the same tag name).
If I wanted to put together a quick hack to add a such a comment
