Information on the DMC 800
The page to see this if you cannot see HTML on e-mail or just want to look
at all of it is.
Sometimes, if it is reasonable, people would prefer not to search around to
web sites so I am posting highlights in HTML as well as giving the link.
Could someone buy me a DMC-800 :-). Why I always look for components and off
brands that focus on engineering rather than marketing is that they are not

Yet Another Vorbis Portable
Hullo, folks.
As the wiki is *still* down, I'm sending this to the list again.
The EZAV EMP-400 is a small flash-based portable player with an OLED
screen. I think it's still in development, because I can't find
information on its pricing anywhere. The memory capacity isn't visible
anywhere either, but the previous device from EZAV had 256 megs of
memory.

Next Friday at 12:30 PM EDT: Asterisk Users Conference TDM inside and outside the box
Hi,
I am going to be on the road for the next few days and with the
variable delay on the mailing list, I am posting this now, 4 days
before the conference. If you haven't yet listened or participated,
please consider doing it. We have a great kernel of people at all
levels of expertise and ideas and questions can be kicked around
immediately (well, there's a few milliseconds lag).

rsync - umlauts and length of file name
Hi - I have implemented an rsync script that runs on a Leopard OS X
system and backup the local host itself, plus 2 remote machines -
another Leopard machine and a Win XP laptop. The remote backups are
performed by connection to an rsync daemon. I'm using rsync 3.0.4 with
a few extension for the Mac OS X side.
When doing the backup of the XP box I see these error messages:

Do multiple pools compete for memory?
I observed the following on a machine running Solaris 10 update 4:
I was sending a zfs with zfs send to a zpool on the same machine for backup purposes. After a while (the machine was otherwise idle), the desktop froze and a couple of seconds later I saw that the page scanner had kicked in and was scanning at a rate of about 10k pages per second. So obviously ZFS was memory hungry, but I never saw

Error making dahdi linux compete 2.11.0
Getting the some errors making dahdi 2.11.0.
Seems same as listed here http://forums.asterisk.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=96455
In that link they say to use 2.10.2 but that's from December. Is there a fix yet for this?

Fw: [asterisk-biz] To compete with Avaya - What are their current cost?
I am not interested in open source solutions. I want to know how much the
propriety systems cost in terms of licensing. Specially Avaya now a days per
extension. Exclusive or Inclusive of the hardware for 10 agents as noted.
Thanks

iPod Touch/iPhone VPNs with CentOS.
I am looking at options for VPN connections from iPhones and iPod
Touches to CentOS systems. We use OpenVPN for connections with
Windows, Mac OS X, and other Linux systems, but there don't
appear to be any OpenVPN clients for iPhones (presumably because
there are no tun/tap interfaces available yet).
My experiences getting IPsec running on CentOS systems with OpenVPN
have not been pretty.

3.10pre8 & ipod shuffle
Hello!
I own an Ipod shuffle (512MB) and I am having trouble booting from it
using syslinux 3.10pre8 (I have not tested older versions).
I guess the Ipod shuffle works just like an ordinary USB key with a
FAT32 partition so I have read http://syslinux.zytor.com/usbkey.php.
My BIOS identifies it as a hard disk, so I hope I do not have to modify
the geometry. Windows assigns the drive letter

Using CELT on iPod
Hi,
We are testing CELT 0.7.1 on an iPod touch and it seems we are already reaching the CPU limit of the machine for a 1 channel both directions stream. The CELT README says that the code should be compiled with fixed-point support, but it it not clear how it has to be used later on. We currently use celt_encode_float/celt_decode_float functions. Can we still use them with the fixed point version

CENTOS 4.2 crashes when ipod plugged in
A friend sent me an ipod to office to transfer music to it. It had a
firewire cable and I have an Audigy soundcard with a firewire port. But
when I connected the ipod to the firewire port, I got a lot of weird
numbers and interrupt errors and the system crashed badly. Is there some
problem with firewire support in the kernel?

Problem authenticating iPod Touch
Given the (slightly edited) config info below, iPod Touch users are
unable to connect, leaving the following message in the log file:

attempts): rip=1.2.3.4, lip=5.6.7.8, TLS handshaking: Disconnected
Even with maximum logging on, no other error messages seem related to
this problem.
