just curious...
does ogg vorbis or any other format currently allow say, a whole cd recorded
and compressed into one file, but with points stating where one track begins
and ends, so you can just play certain songs out of this file, or possibly
cut songs out of the file into seperate tracks. or is there any format that
will do this in the future? (like ogg vorbis maybe). just wondering,
thanks!

quick question
vcut (windows): what do you put in for the cutpoint (ex. how many numbers)
and how do you find out these numbers (ex. how do you find out what the
point in the file you want to cut it at is)

Peeling
>From my understanding, vorbis peeling would work somewhat like Mp3PRO. What they created was a file with a 64kbps size, but a near-128kbps quality. If you decoded the mp3 using a standard mp3 decoder, you got the 64kbps quality, but if you used an mp3-pro decoder, it would display as 128kbps and mp3pro, and there would be added quality to it. It seems the format worked by having 2 streams

Direct crash on ov_open
Greetings,
I've just downloaded the Ogg/Vorbis Win32 SDK 'OggVorbis-win32sdk-1.0.1.zip' and
made a test app to open an ogg file. But as soon as I call ov_open() the program
crashes because of an access violation to address 0x00000010...
This happens on both Release and Debug builds.
The test app is simple:
#include "vorbis/codec.h"
#include "vorbis/vorbisfile.h"

OggEnc - command line... (& getting Audiograbber to work)

Thanks for your help, Michael. I have entered this as an enhancement request.

When will quality increase be unnoticable?
I started thinking about this after doing a little testing with AAC, MP3 and
Ogg Vorbis. I was comparing the different formats at similiar bitrates.
After a while I finally realized that they all sound more or less the same to me.
>From 160 kbps on, I usually cannot detect any difference between a lossy
encoding and the original source. If LAME is used, I have to strain to notice

Vorbis usage in internet broadcasts
Hi.
Just for the fun of trying something new, I've compiled a list of
Ogg/Vorbis radio stations on the internet. However, I must say I
didn't get really far. (
http://www.ai.rug.nl/~bneijt/links/oggradiolist.xml )
Does anybody know a good resource/listing of ogg streaming (with
preferably vorbis inside) radio stations?

Ogg Vorbis Playback with Windows Media Player
Where do I go and what do I download to enable Ogg Vorbis Playback with
Windows Media Player? I found something on sourceforge.net but at the top
it says
Current (Test and development files; these can damage your whole DirectShow
system and probably requires a complete Windows reinstallation)
o I don't want to do that, I want to make sure I pick the right thing first

DRM and Ogg Vorbis ??
Dear all,
I would like to know whether it is possible to use any DRM scheme
with Ogg-Vorbis ?
My idea would be to distribute music commercially and be able
guarantee to artists that they won't be copied freely.
Thanks for your advice.

Debian mp3->vorbis transcoding
In case there are any Debian developers around here, I wanted to point
out message <20020828154322.GA15114@chulak.naquadah.org> on the
debian-devel list this morning. Another Debian developer is proposing to
submit an mp3->vorbis transcoding program for inclusion in Debian. I
have objected to this on the grounds that the resulting vorbis files
will sound like crap, and I have also pointed

Audio/video synchronization in ogm files
Hi!
I made an ogm file with ogg audio and divX video. When I play it, sound and movie are not well synchronous (I played it with WMP and ashampoo). What can I do?
NB: I know that this problem does not come from the audio and the divX video files, since when I make a mp3/divX avi file, it works.
Sincerely,
Frédéric.

Interesting file-sharing idea
This may be unrealistic and useless, but I've been thinking about an interesting file-sharing solution.
In my system, only Ogg Vorbis files may be shared, and they should all be directly ripped from a CD. Nothing that someone would convert from MP3, etc. While that cannot be enforceable, it should be made clear. Also, track listings should be not filenames, but the Artist and Title of the

ogg: another tag?
I've learned that I can make a tag with vorbisgain that tells the player
at what volume a track is to be played to achieve a certain level of
loudness.
Is it possible that there will be a tag that tells the player for instance
to add more bass when it plays a track? Ore more treble?
With such tags it would be possible to customize the sound of a
track according to my wishes - without

Quality & Tags
Hey folks.
I know tags aren't anyone's favorite subject, but I'd like to make a suggestion
for a tag that I think is quite important -- a quality tag.
So important, I think, that oggenc really ought to automatically create one
when the -q option is used. As all of us know, in the Vorbis codec the
quality of the stream is often a more important (and more informative) value
than the
