(Classical) Request for Standardization of expanded TAGS
A month or two ago I sent an email to this list proposing to expand the list of "standard" tags for Ogg Vorbis. No tag would be required, but if you wanted to encode certain types of information about a file, you could use a standard tag. I went through the whole discussion, and revised my proposal in light of all the comments from everyone. Here is the updated proposal. This

TAG Standard - ENSEMBLE/PERFORMER tags
I've read through what I think is the entire thread and looked at the standard in its current incarnation (https://reactor-core.org/~djw/ogg-tags.txt). I have only one major problem with the proposed standard at the moment. The existance of both PERFORMER and ENSEMBLE tags. I think this is describing the same type of data (ENSEMBLE = thing that performed the music, PERFORMER = thing that

PROPOSAL: Sub-Tagging
I mentioned sub-tagging in an earlier post. Here's a more in-depth mail on what i thought of. One of the debates going on here are whether ARTIST is worthy of life. Another is whether the average user will bother filling in the detailed info Jonathan wants. Of course, all tags are optional, but nevertheless we should have a tagging-system that pleases _the_users_, that is, everybody: 1.

TAG-mess
Hi, <p>here's my €0.02 on that topic. First of all, all those new tags are total overkill to be standardized. They're only useful for people who both tag OGG files for a living and listen to classical music only. Imagine what will happen when the Jazz fans, and the Techno fans, and the Rock fans and who knows else demands his very own, customized + standardized set of tags. And

Request for Standardization: classical music TAGS
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- [ Sorry for sending this twice; I sent it to the vorbis-dev list by mistake. ] The ALBUM, ARTIST, TITLE, and TRACKNUMBER tags aren't sufficient for classical music. MP3 muffed it, but since Vorbis is so flexible, I'd like to propose that ogg123 recognize and display the following optional tags, instead of giving an error message that it doesn't

Adviced way of tagging music
I change a lot of my CD to Ogg to be able to listen them easily from my computer (I use foobar, I was used to WMP but it does not support library for Ogg files and plug-ins I found for this where poor) without the need for frequent CD changing. I like my music to be richly tagged. But with classical music CD it is a real pain to tag those files. Typical problems involve: - single CD

Re: proposal1
In an effort to redeem my earlier flame, here is my attempt at rewording the standard to correct the flaws I see in it. The latest draft as writting by Jonathan is prefixed with >>. My comments have > before them. My rewritten version includes no line prefix. >>Jonathon Walther wrote: >David Mitchell commented: A Modest Proposal >>Proposal for a Vorbis TAG Standard

changing from zap to DAHDI
I am changing a system from zap to DAHDI. I removed everything zap. when doing the command: sh -x /etc/init.d/dahdi start, I see initlog -q -c 'modprobe wct4xxp' sh: /sbin/ztcfg: No such file or directory FATAL: Error running install command for wct4xxp doing updatedb then, locate zap returns me /var/lib/asterisk/sounds/spy-zap.gsm /usr/share/groff/1.18.1.1/font/devps/zapfdr.pfa

newbie questions
I wish to add flac support to my Windows audio player so I wanted to ask a few questions. I rely on another lib for decoding/playing flac audio files so all I need to explicitly add support for is reading/writing flac metadata. 1st: I've downloaded libflac and have begun browsing. Is there a simple way to identify and carve out the pieces needed only for metadata i/o? Or will I have to

Windows 2000 Passwords
Hello, My question is the same as "Windows 98 Passwords" in your Samba FAQ replacing Windows 98 with Windows 2000. What is the registry to be modified to enable Plain Text Password with Windows 2000 ? I tried HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\VNETSUP as in Windows 98 and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Rdr\Parameters as in NT4 but none work.

backing up comments
All this talk about vorbis comments has made me think. Would it be possible to create backups of the Vorbis comments for my vorbis collection (currently about 1850 files) ? Instead of having to make sure I enter the correct details into CDex (saving in to cdplayer.ini & backing up that), or if I have comments in the Vorbis files that aren't stored in cdplayer.ini, such as the tags

ip phone suggestion for Asia?
Hi: i am surveying ip phones for our company. we will use them with asterisk. we have office in taiwan, hong kong, singapore and china. cisco and polycom are too expensive for us. we try several china brand ip phones. they are all cheap and some of them have good quality. but most of them won't offer future firmware support, which we think it's important for ip phones.

missing corner case in authorized_keys?
I've written up a little HOWTO on how I set up my CVS server to allow anonymous access via ssh. I did it a little bit differently than the method documented by Theo and crew. Where their login shell has a lot of stuff in it, mine is a simple execle() statement. Url is here: http://reactor-core.org/#code After following the steps outlined in the HOWTO, I came across the following

Decision Tree and Random Forrest
Ok is there a way to do it with decision tree? I just need to make the decision rules. Perhaps I can pick one of the trees used with Random Forrest. I am somewhat familiar already with Random Forrest with respective to bagging and feature sampling and getting the mode from the leaf nodes and it being an ensemble technique of many trees. I am just working from the perspective that I need

books about MCMC to use MCMC R packages?
Dear list users, I need to learn about MCMC methods, and since there are several packages in R that deal with this subject, I want to use them. I want to buy a book (or more than one, if necessary) that satisfies the following requirements: - it teaches well MCMC methods; - it is easy to implement numerically the ideas of the book, and notation and concepts are similar to the corresponding R
