DI stream on xmms?
Greetings,
Is there a way to play the Digitally-imported OGG stream using xmms?
I've tried it using ogg123, and it seams to work OK!
But, I haven't managed to get it running on xmms.
I've downloaded the latest plugin (xmms tells me version 1.2.4) and
installed the 'RC1' rpms; but this doesn't work yet.
(The player fill-ups it buffers; but doesn't start playing; and

plan/date for new features
Greetings,
With all the press concerning the 'almost 1.0' release of vorbis; I see a
lot of messages floating around as 'now 1.0, and -soon- it will include
joint-stereo, Wavelets, low-bitrate, peeling, etc. etc.'
Before I start 'advocating' vorbis and tell everybody what it all can do;
is there actually a date or some other planning when all those

mixing and 'downgrading' of vorbis-files
Greetings,
I was wondering some things:
For a internet radio-station (e.g. using mp3 and hopefully using ogg
soon), appart from the basic 'streaming' functionallity, there are two
things that are also important
- mixing music
- 'downgrading' a signal to a lower datarate.
Concerning 'mixing' music, it would be interesting to be able to mix two
ogg-files without the need to

some questions: client for ultralinux and streaming
Greetings,
I am rather new to OGG or streaming, so I like to ask some questions:
First, clients:
I have a sun ultra-sparc 5 running linux.
What clients can I use?
The xmms (that came with the redhat 6.2 installation) does not have the
vorbis-pluging, and -I guess- the xmms-plugin that's on the vorbis-website
is for intel-linux?
Where could I get the source for the plugin and (if

work; I suppose the MP3 degradation only applies to MS encoding software...
*shrug*
this may, however, provide a good leveraging point for Vorbis.

This is my first time posting to the digest, so I hope I get this
right. CC:Mail is also giving me problems, so bear with me.
I've come across a web page giving a link to Microsoft's written but
unsupported Network Client for Windows CE. This lets a Windows CE
palmtop browse Windows shares across a network. HOwever, the web page

Low-bitrate audio encode/stream application
Hello Thomas,
You are correct - the application is basically for secure remote access to
ham CW (morse code) station. I believe the solution will be based on low bit
rate MP3 streaming for receiver side (MP3 allows use with existing CODEC in
client side, which could include Win CE or Linux palmtop type form factor,
and the audio source would just be "voice grade" material on a mono,

Winamp decoder plugin user-agent ident
Hi:
Have been testing the latest winamp plugins on my icecast2 stream
(http://bumpy.braille.uwo.ca:9000/test.ogg <plug plug>) and I noticed that
in the field where the player/browser is listed in the log entries I see
Mozilla for the winamp plugin. Isn't this ummmm. wrong?

SoftFax question
Hi,
I am looking at using the softfax that Steve Underwood has developed.
It's very straight forward when you assign an extension for the fax.
A function that several pbx's has is that they listen for the 'faxtone'
for 5 seconds
after 'answer' in the menu where you can enter your local extension number,
it's normally done in parallel with the DTMF detection. I think

newbie Capistrano question
Hi,
My name is Paul Kristoff and I am rather new to rails. I am trying to
use Capistrano for the first time and am rather confused. My confusion
boils down to the :repository variable in the deploy.rb file. Is this
supposed to point to where your code is currently being stored? Here is
what leads to that question, I am working with an ISP that supports
rails. I originally had the

[new?] Streaming technique
Hi,
I have a newbie question, and a not-so-newbie one. I've just found
out about Ogg, and I haven't been able to find a clear answer in
the many webpages this proyect has (btw, why not create just one
site instead of vorbis.com, ogg-vorbis.com...).
The question is, does Ogg use perceptual coding, like mp3 does? And
if so, would it be possible to build an encoder in such a way as

streaming: some idea's
Greetings,
A couple of weeks ago, there was here a discussion about streaming. Here
is two things that I would like to add to
the discussion: meta-streaming and control-streaming. (Althou I do not
think my ideas are that new)
* First metastreaming:
If you look at DVB (Digital Video Broadcasting), one of nice features
(apart from it being a European standard ;-)) is the existing of a
meta-stream.
