icecast 1.3.11 problems under openbsd
Hello,
I am running icecast 1.3.11 under OpenBSD 2.8-STABLE. On a first look,
everything works fine, but after ~1.5 hours of streaming, clients start
losing the stream and have to rebuffer every couple minutes. While this
happens, the prepuffering starts to take a couple times longer than it
did before. It seems to work fine again now that I reconnected both
client and streamer, but it appears

kmeans: number of cluster centres must lie between 1 and nrow(x)
Dear R,
Can't I cluster a dataset into k clusters where k is exactly the number of
observations? I have version 12.2 installed. See this example
> a <- matrix(1:100, 20)
> kmeans(a, 20)
Error: number of cluster centres must lie between 1 and nrow(x)
This is a bit ad-hoc but I known R from version 2.12 allows number of
clusters to be one. So I guess allowing number of clusters to be

vorbismodule 0.0b
Well, I've slaved and toiled for two days straight, gone almost without sleep,
and nearly had my brain explode, and what do I have to show for it? The new
version of the Python (http://www.python.org/) module for reading and
_writing_ Ogg Vorbis files!
What is it?
-----------
It is a Python (http://www.python.org/) module that emulates the native wave
and sunau interface for Ogg Vorbis

ogg to mp3 conversion
Howdy folks,
currently i am using a cygwin32 build of all tools on NT here at work.
most of my cd's are ripped to ogg files, but my mp3diskman is.. well an mp3 player. (http://www.soul.com.hk Its a nice player!)
i use:
ogg123.exe -d raw -f - "filename.ogg" | lame --r3mix -r - filename.mp3
Is there a better way of doing this, for instance passing the tags through as well? I am

compilation
Hello,
I would like to compile the Ogg Vorbis libraries and tools on my Slackware
7.0 box. Unfortunatelly Slack is comming with gcc 2.91.66 which is not
suited for compilation of these libraries and tools. I downloaded,
compiled and installed in a separate directory tree gcc 2.95.3 but now I
really don't know how to make the configure script see it and set it
properly as the compiler to be

oggmerge working, Ogg MIDI is here
Ok guys, I just committed the Ogg MIDI code to ogg-tools/oggmerge.
You can now make synced vorbis+midi Oggs, but there is (not yet anyway)
a tool to play such files.
Have a look at the code, and let me know if you see anything major.
Adding new media types for merging should be trivial, and you already
have two examples (the vorbis one is VERY simple and the MIDI one
is much more complicated)

PSTN calls do NOT hang up
Hi all,
In my Asterisk setup, incoming calls through Cisco PSTN gateway to Asterisk extensions sounds work fine. All calls can be terminated properly after hangup. However, when calls were forwarded to voicemail, after recording & hangup the PSTN calls and cisco FXO port remained connected unless cisco port was manually shut/no shut. # key used to hang up the call did NOT help. Did anyone

Controlling
More newbie questions, please bear with me =)
I've got my high level code pretty well structured, and I'm now trying
to decode vorbis streams on the fly using the ov_open_callbacks()
routines. I can't seem to figure out how to tell it what output format
I want -- is this possible? For example, I would like to be able to
specify number of channels output (e.g. stereo vs. sum-to-mono

Realtime encoding at 44.1khz
Hi:
I've been experimenting with streaming vorbis across my network from the
windows box to an icecast2 server on my linux machine (the server I usually
use is having some network issues at present). I've tested both ostream
0.7.1 and oddcast beta26. It seems that neither can encode on the fly on
my P2-266 at 44100 fast enough to be able to stream it. Ostream looked the
more promising

Need help for a quick fun t-shirt/polo project - graphics artist wanted
Hey,
I got a friend that makes custom T-Shirts/Polo's. Well, he has a very
expensive printer and a heat press. He's offered to make me some shirts,
maybe w/ my name on the cuff and some kind of graphic on the front or back.
I wanted to make some VoIP Shirts, maybe some with just the word VoIP and
others with VoIP and Asterisk, like w/ the Asterisk logo.
If anybody is a good graphics

ARTIST added to Jonthan's tag proposal
Jonathan added to the proposal the following definition:
ARTIST
for information to be displayed on systems with limited display
capabilities. it is not a replacement for the ENSEMBLE and PERFORMER
tags, but typically will summarize them.
As I understand the aim is to provide more compatibility with players
(especially portable) that are so dumb as to display only "ARTIST",

Question about artist name display
All of my MP3's on my computer are categorized in folders named by the artist. I don't have any id tags on my MP3's. So all that is shown is the song title in the status section. My question is, is there any way to have icecast go out and grab the folder name so that the artist name will appear in the status window? Also I use an m3u playlist to do the job.
thanks
Chris

artist and song for mp3 streams?; and, canonical list of legal value-ofs that can be used in XSLT!
Hello, Iceys!
Two related questions here. First, I've just finished a little icecast ->
twitter script that's working nicely, and I've also discovered quite a bit
about icecast (the main thing is that it's dead easy to set up on Ubuntu -
I got a working radio station the first time with almost no debugging!
Good job, guys.)
Now, on mp3 streams I only get a value for
