I found that taking the difference between an original sample and its decoded Vorbis counterpart is a cool way to mangle sounds (especially voice samples get a nice weird touch :] ). Hi all, Have trouble encoding / playing back OGG using WinAmp + plugin. I encoded the files from .WAV with Ogg drop RC2. Seems to be ok. When I try and play them back though I get very very weird sound effects (some kind of "wobbling", some bass frequencies that are usually in the background seem to get more emphasised and they seem to have some kind of strange echo / reverb to it

I agree that Opus is way better, but it's sadly also using more resources... In my cpu, with winamp2.7 and in_vorbis.dll(v0.1), the track skips at the end of the song...It's like it plays the last 1/10th of a sec twice... And it only happens when playing to to the system's sound card, that is, when i play it with winamp's disk_output plugin, the track is decoded correctly... Has it happened to anyone yet? Hi! What are the assumed listening conditions in vorbis ? For example there are big differences in perceived sound when listening with headphones compared to listening with speakers. A precompiled oggenc for Windows identifies itself as beta4, and from a certain mono file produces 53.3 kb/s files, whereas one I've compiled myself, identifying itself as 1.0rc1, produces 55.9 kb/s. I saw the news about release 1.0 coming up this weekend, but was wondering if there is any reason not to encode now with the pre-release software I have. I want to use CDex with its Ogg support ("Ogg Vorbis DLL Encoder version 1.04, engine 1.04) to replace my MP3 files with Ogg -- and would like to start this weekend while I have the time.
