Nullsoft Vorbis Decoder v1.11a (BUG)
Hello I'm new to the list. I went through recent archives and didn't find any mention of this, sorry if this has already been discussed. When listening to a stream (http://bumpy.braille.uwo.ca:9000/test.ogg) winamp crashed after a few minutes. When i tried going back in and went back to the stream it worked for a few minutes again and crashed. The times are different (8:27 and 6:20, and

Directory listing disappeared
Hi: Last week, I upgraded an icecast2 server and enabled the directory code. The primary streams that run on it showed up nicely. As some may recall, I had issues with libshout compiling (seems the sources got hosed somehow, a fresh checkout fixed everything after all else failed), and I just compiled the latest ices2. I noticed, with some surprise, that the config file hadn't changed in

plan/date for new features
Greetings, With all the press concerning the 'almost 1.0' release of vorbis; I see a lot of messages floating around as 'now 1.0, and -soon- it will include joint-stereo, Wavelets, low-bitrate, peeling, etc. etc.' Before I start 'advocating' vorbis and tell everybody what it all can do; is there actually a date or some other planning when all those

Re-encoding vorbis/ogg format on the fly
Hi, Just one quick question. Can ices re-encode vorbis/ogg format on the fly? I know it can do that with mp3 format, but what about vorbis/ogg format? Thanks. Reuben D. Multiplexed Ogg and header problems.
I there was a discussion on the vorbis list about Real Audio SureStream (tm) format. The basic idea was that they put multiple RA files with different compression levels. So when they have to switch the bit rate due to bandwidth changes, they choose from the streams they have. Since peeling is a long time away, it could be implemented with ogg vorbis multiplexing several times the same

ogg123 bug
Potentially nasty bug in current HEAD when printing the name of the file being played (the "Playing: filename.ogg" bit), any % symbols in the name appear to be printf parsed causing either junk to be printed or a crash or both. I noticed this when trying out http streaming as the url has %20's in it for spaces in the file name. Oh, and it still says it's rc2... --

Windows XP and MP3
if ya' haven't seen it already, check out: http://www.canoe.ca/MoneyWSJ/wsj2-dow.html ad, sad, sad. on many fronts. I don't begin to understand how this might work; I suppose the MP3 degradation only applies to MS encoding software... *shrug* this may, however, provide a good leveraging point for Vorbis. have fun dongoodman

Vorbis streems, old and new
Hi all: Well, after making the change to make use of the CVS trees and switching to ices2 (as opposed to the libshout example streamer), the icecast server at bumpy.braille.uwo.ca:9000 is back up. I've put my old 22khz mono files (encoded with beta4) back up on test.ogg. In addition, we've implemented a vorbis subset of Kirk Reiser's egoplay MP3 stream. You can now hear all the

RE: Audio broadcasting... (fwd)
Hi vorbis dudes, I've been trying to encourage vorbis use for a somewhat well known person who is doing a weekly internet "radio" program. I guess they are finding out that WMA isnt too cross platform :-) Was wondering if someone could help out with these questions... The encoding platform is windows... Is vorbis suitable for 33.6k/56k streaming yet? Would be a good opportunity

bandwidth negotiation
Does Icecast support bandwidth negotiation like Real's server? If so, how would one configure this (can't find it in the docs or list archives). If not, is there any interest in adding this capability? -- Kevin DeGraaf --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ icecast project homepage: http://www.icecast.org/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to

[new?] Streaming technique
Hi, I have a newbie question, and a not-so-newbie one. I've just found out about Ogg, and I haven't been able to find a clear answer in the many webpages this proyect has (btw, why not create just one site instead of vorbis.com, ogg-vorbis.com...). The question is, does Ogg use perceptual coding, like mp3 does? And if so, would it be possible to build an encoder in such a way as to
