Winamp 2.80 Vorbis problem confirmed on my comp
I first downloaded Winamp Lite, which did not have Vorbis
plugin, and installed the latest PP Vorbis plugin:
http://www.blorp.com/~peter/zips/in_vorbis.exe
That did not work, for some reason.
Afterwards, I downloaded the Standard version and tried playing
ogg files: it didn't work either. I installed the latest PP
Vorbis plugin over this version, but still the same.
What's up??

Vorbis support in Winamp
I would like you guys to test the latest version of my plug-in:
http://www.blorp.com/~peter/zips/in_vorbis.zip
This one is considered the final version and there are no known bugs in it,
but you might be able to find some.
quick notes:
* HTTP seeking is as slow as hell, don't use it.
* UTF8 stuff should (finally) work correctly now.
-Peter
PS. Better genre editor user IS being worked on.

Alternate winamp plugin.
Hello everyone,
I just thought that you should know that I was talking to someone the other
day and it seems that someone fairly close to Nullsoft has created his own
winamp plugin. I'm just suggesting this as an alternate plugin for those
that wish to try it. I had nothing to do with writing it so please don't
e-mail me about it. It's slightly more finished than the current winamp

WinAmp plug-in based on RC1?
Hi,
I just downloaded this and it says it's based on RC1 in the about box. Is
that a typo or is the plug-in not updated?

TwinVQ versus The World
The last few threads have really been interesting. Technologies
that are currently on the market are MP3, RealAudio, and Windows
Media (pre-version8). Technologies currently in progress or
just shipped are Ogg Vorbis and mp3pro. I don't think anyone
has mentioned TwinVQ on this list. While exploring alternatives
to MP3 (which is when I also found Vorbis), I noticed TwinVQ. I

Winamp plug-in tag editor bug
There is a bug in winamp plug-in tag editor that corrupts
files encoded in -b192 mode - these files have trouble
with seeking. So get the latest plug-in:
http://www.blorp.com/~peter/zips/in_vorbis.exe
If some of your files have been messed up by this bug,
you have to re-encode them.

Nullsoft Vorbis Decoder v1.13a (BUG)
Hi, there.
Thanx for the update, Peter. That scrolling stuff working...but this
time, the information on the artists and the titles are not displayed
on the playlist till the song is being played. Is this happening to
only me (I am on Win98SE)?
At r3mix forum (http://r3mix.net/forum or http://r3mixforum.cjb.net),

ReplayGain support for Vorbis
Hello all,
I'm glad to announce to you that Vorbis now has full
ReplayGain support. If you're not familiar with ReplayGain,
take a look at www.replaygain.org. The main features are:
a) all songs play back with equal loudness
b) removes the need for normalization
c) allows for clipping prevention
Using it is very simple. Get a compatible decoder (ogg123,
XMMS and WinAmp all support it

converting WAV to ogg
I am trying to convert some a few WAV files to ogg format (using
vorbis-tools-1.0beta4 oggenc).
I tried:
$ oggenc -o nash.ogg nash.wav

or floating point PCM
ERROR: Input file "nash.wav" is not a supported format
And:
splay -d - nash.wav | oggenc -r -o nash.ogg -

Winamp plugin installation
Okay, this is a nitpick but I gotta do it. First the background: I'm
trying to convince a diehard mp3 coworker of mine to use ogg for his
personal project along side of mp3 and having a tough time. His gripe is
that the default players all support mp3 (Winamp and wma) but not ogg and
that his listeners won't want to go out and install it. We have now set up
a huge shared drive on the

libvorbis won't compile on LFS.
This is a linux from scratch based on the 2.4.13 kernel. I'm using a GCC
2.95.3, autoconf 2.52, and automake 1.5. Libvorbis compilation fails with a
Signal 11 error as shown below. I had the same results with 2.4.12, 2.4.10,
and 2.4.9. I've compiled hundreds of other packages without getting this
error, and I've even tried changing the memory.

sound quality
i'm recently started to encode my cd's into ogg vorbis format
(192kb/s), and i am very much pleased with the quality.
however, i will certainly feel awful after encoding 1gb of files
and beta5 comes out, claiming to increase the sound quality. in
other words, should i be using ogg vorbis for long-term audio
storage without fear that those files are crappy quality and

Scheduled Ogg streams for testing
Well we're testing scheduled Ogg streaming, but it would be nice to
test with an audience bigger then me and a few irc users, so I thought
I'd drop a note to the list.

This will contain any scheduled tests to come and anything currently
being streamed. For scheduled stuff, only things we're given
permission to do by producers can go on
