Request for support: add Vorbis to RioVolt CD player
I just recently got myself the SonicBlue RioVolt Mp3/WMA CD player, which
has upgradeable firmware.
I've sent a request to:
customersupport@diamondmm.com
asking them to add support for Ogg Vorbis in the next release of their
firmware, so that it will be able to read Ogg CDs
and display its tags properly.
It would be great if others could e-mail the same address and ask for the

Matrix to data frame conversion
I have a matrix which I wanted to convert to a data frame. As I could not
succeed and resorted to export to csv and reimport it again. Why did I fail
in the attempt and how can I achieve what I wanted without this
roundabouts?
The original matrix:
> str(comb_model0)
num [1:90, 1:4] 3.5938 0.0274 0.0342 0.0135 0.0207 ...
- attr(*, "dimnames")=List of 2

How to add a variable to a dataframe whose values are conditional upon the values of an existing variable
Hi everyone,
I am at my wits end with what I believe would be considered simple by a more experienced R user. I want to know how to add a variable to a dataframe whose values?are conditional?on the values of an existing?variable.?I can't seem to make an ifelse statement work?for my situation.?The existing variable?in my dataframe is?a character variable named DOW which contains abbreviated

How to assign week numbers to a time-series
Hello everyone,
My progress has stalled on finding a way of creating a somewhat complicated variable to add to my existing dataframe and I am hoping one of you could help me out. The dataframe below contains only a fraction of the data of my complete dataframe, but all of the variables. What I want to do is add another variable named 'WEEK' to this dataframe that is assigned 1 for row 1

libao on OS X
OK, wanted to check out the macosx driver for libao on me new iBook.
Everything compiles beautifully (given some utils from the fink project,
like automake), but...
but the dynamic plugin system is broken.
1) on OS X, dll's en in .dylib, not .so, as is hardwired in. this should
be an easy fix.
2) dlopen chokes on opening the .dylib files...so the plugin is never
loaded. i know not enought

plan/date for new features
Greetings,
With all the press concerning the 'almost 1.0' release of vorbis; I see a
lot of messages floating around as 'now 1.0, and -soon- it will include
joint-stereo, Wavelets, low-bitrate, peeling, etc. etc.'
Before I start 'advocating' vorbis and tell everybody what it all can do;
is there actually a date or some other planning when all those

Apple iPod
If you haven't seen, Apple has just announced a portable mp3 player (iPod)
Can't find anything with a cursory search at Apple's Development Center
(developer.apple.com), but I wonder if it can be upgraded to support
Vorbis...and what it would take. Prelimenary thoughts? I know this is a
topic that comes up over and over again on this list, but with Apple

Having problems running palm desktop or the uninstall program
I have a user John Dow on a local machine johnsmachine. I have a samba
user jdow. When I moved the profile john dow to the domain keydomain, I
can't get the install program to run. This is how it looks. I have
local profile johnsmachine/John Dow and roaming profile
keydomain/jdow. When logged into profile johnsmachine/John Dow, I can
install and uninstall the palm software with no

Can I call MySql statements directly??
Hi All.
I have a mysql statement that I would really really like to call from my
Ruby program which goes like this:
SELECT a, b, DAYOFWEEK(date_time) as DOW,
HOUR(date_time) at hr,
AVG(x/y)
FROM records;
This is possible by creating a 3-dimentional array of a, b, date_time
containing x/y, and then finding averages and putting it into a
4-dimensional array of a, b, dow,

DoW Soulstorm crack
I was wondering if anyone has been able to get DoW Soulstorm Running on their Wine. I've looked at several forum lines, and no one seems to have been able to crack it yet. From what i've gathered, the reason it wont work is because of the cd check. If i were able to crack the game so it didnt check for the cd, would it work then? I'm very new to Linux, so please post any replies with a

R's list data structure
Given
dayOfWeekName<-c("Mon","Tue","Wed","Thu","Fri","Sat","Sun");
dayOfWeekOrdinal<-c(1,2,3,4,5,6,0);
dayOfWeekWorkDay<-c(TRUE,TRUE,TRUE,TRUE,TRUE,FALSE,FALSE);
weekProfile<-list(dow=dayOfWeekName,dowI=dayOfWeekOrdinal,dowW=dayOfWeekWorkDay)
1. How can I conditionally get dow, dowI, and dowW from weekProfile?

Complex sampling?
R users,
I am trying to generate a randomized weekday survey schedule that ensures even coverage of weekdays in
the sample, where the distribution of variable DOW is random with respect to WEEK. To accomplish this I need
to randomly sample without replacement two weekdays per week for each of 27 weeks (only 5 are shown). However,
I need to sample from a sequence (3:7) that needs to be

Statement about OGG support in Rio Riot
FYI, looks like more people need to let SonicBLUE know that OGG support is

Ov_open crash in windows
I am getting the following error from MSVC when calling ov_open()
from my app:
Unhandled exception in Progname.exe (KERNEL32.DLL): 0xC0000005:

The call stack shows:

I am running Win98 and v1.0 off the vorbis libs. The app is single-
threaded.
The following code works just fine in a test app I built, but when I

vorbis players (or lack of) for mac
Perhaps the devel list would be better, but a) i'm not subscribed to it
just now and b) I'm lazy (dons flame-retardant clothing)...
frankly, i'm rather tired of the lack of free ogg vorbis players for Mac
OS; it doesn't look like iTunes is going to support the format anytime
soon (and i have some real issues with its interface, too)...so, since
I've decided to learn Mac OS

Conditional sampling
R experts,
I need to sample two rows without replacement from the following data frame such that
neither row contains the same 'DOW'. For example, I cannot select both a Monday morning
and a Monday afternoon. I am using STRATA_NUM as an index to randomly select rows from,
since this variable indexes all unique permutations of DOW, SITE, and TOD. I know how to
use the sample function
