Winamp plugin bug
Okay I just found out about Vorbis today. I like it! However the Winamp
plugin bug struck me the first time I used it. I used the encoder to
compress 2 wavs. Each time I play these ogg files I either get a Winamp
crash or a beep at the end of playing the file.
I checked the archives and saw the old posts for this same bug. Has it been
fixed in a newer version?
I take it since the Winamp plugin

oggenc
Anyone hacking on oggenc to make it faster? It seems pretty slow on my PIII
500. Of course I am judging that against mp3 compression which is heaps
faster on my machine. Is ogg encoding more complex than mp3 encoding?

building ogg
Okay I figured out the environment space problem. Now I am trying to build
the winamp plugin but I am missing the httpstream.h file. I downloaded the
nightly cvs snapshot. Anyone know where I can get that file? I searched the
entire snapshot but cannot find that file. Thanks!

Fw: Winamp
Hi Shane and all on the list,
Thanks - I already have the Ogg Vorbis encoder (oggenc.exe).
I am looking to send voice messages to a friend in India and they have terrible connections. I just need to communicate with him quickly and easily from time to time which is why I'm hoping to compress voice with Speex. There's an encoder called Speexenc.exe which I already have, now I only need

winamp bitrate (kbps) display wrong
I have noticed that when playing OGGs in Winamp, the bitrate displayed is always much higher than the average bitrate of the file. This was using the plugin that comes with Winamp v2.80 (v1.2 b7)
For example, the latest oggenc encoded a song to 77kbps - I verified that this matched the filesize correctly. Apart from the first and last few seconds of the song, Winamp always displays between 85 -

winamp plugin crashes
Hi!
My winamp crashes when i play this file:
http://rehlin.hemmet.chalmers.se/~papa/files/test.ogg
the wav is in the same place. Does someone else have the same 'problem'?
(ok, i know its a silly test sound, but i still think it should decode
without crashing)

Difficulty w/1.0 and Sonique/Winamp
I am very excited to see the Vorbis 1.0 out.
Unfortunately, neither Sonique 1.808a nor Winamp 2.5
is willing to play the resulting files. Only silence.
I tried the simple case of 'oggenc track1.wav' and it
created the expected track1.ogg, 3.5MB in size with
avg. bitrate of 110kbps at default quality 3. These
applications worked fine with a much older version of
oggenc. Maybe Beta 2

Winamp plugin annoyance
Hello,
When the Winamp plugin is playing an Ogg Vorbis file, if you
try to scroll the playlist so that the title of the Ogg file scrolls out
of view, it jumps back again, which is very annoying.
The fix:
In function DecodeThread, replace
if(lostsync || (decode_pos_ms - lastupdate > 500))
{
...
mod.SetInfo(bitrate / 1000, samplerate / 1000, num_channels, 1);

RC3 Tagging/Encoding and Winamp answer
First of all, I'm using WinXP and love vorbis! :-)
Since I just joined the mailing list, I figured I would answer the Winamp
question. Winamp has different EQ algorithms - they have a "fast layer 2/3
EQ" option for mp3s, and they have a PCM EQ for all other formats (wma, ogg,
etc.). While the mp3 EQ sounds ok, the PCM EQ (which gets applied to ogg
files) is absolutely horrible. I

[Flac-users] Winamp 2/Winamp 3 and FLAC plug-ins
I know that Winamp has its loyal following. I've never used it much. Also,
I'm a novice at computer music. I've always just bought CD's and never used
computer music. So perhaps I'm an idiot or just not very music-software
literate, but I so far haven't been impressed with Winamp, or the FLAC
plug-in. Just for one example, I've got a dual-Althlon MP 2000 system

[Flac-users] Re: [Flac-announce] Winamp not in default directory
Yup... I troubleshooted this with Chris already... seems he didn't
actually install Winamp, but just created a shortcut to winamp.exe to
launch the program. This means that there is no winamp info in the
Windows registry, thus, the installer doesn't think winamp is installed,
and it skips the Winamp plugin install. Even if I had the installer check
the default install location (\program

Winamp v5.22 / oddcast / aac+
Something else, Greg. Are you aware of any 3G / 2.5G (EDGE) clients for
mobile phones that support AAC+ streaming? Be it java or symbian based.
Thanks
Alex

question about icecast & winamp & media player
Ahah!
I knew I was not the only person who has experienced this with winamp. The
problem here is winamp 2.7. It seems that when I tuned into my shoutcast
servers (when I ran shoutcast) with winamp 2.7 the longest period I could
hold a stream was a little more then an hour. No matter what I did it would
bit the dust. There was some discussion about this on the shoutcast
broadcaster list, but no one

New WinAMP 3.0
Hi.
Winamp version 3.0 has been announced. There will be no public beta and
final version is expected for Christmas. Winamp 3.0 will be completely
re-written version, but current plug-ins and skins (for winamp 2.x) will
NOT be compatible with Winamp 3 (though this will be addressed in later
winamp 3 versions).

Anyway, the reason I'm sending

Winamp v5.22 / oddcast / aac+
Ok, it's not as bad as I thought. With some investigation and
discussion with a "Major Dude" in the Winamp forums, it appears to be a
bug in Winamp v5.22 with streams that end with the mountpoint extension
.aac. I changed the mountpoint to end with .aacp and now it works fine.
Regards,
Ross.

That is correct.
Winamp 3 is broken, and will not correctly play Ogg streams.
Winamp 2.91 lite is
