I am very excited to see the Vorbis 1.0 out. Unfortunately, neither Sonique 1.808a nor Winamp 2.5 is willing to play the resulting files. Only silence. I tried the simple case of 'oggenc track1.wav' and it created the expected track1.ogg, 3.5MB in size with avg. bitrate of 110kbps at default quality 3. These applications worked fine with a much older version of oggenc. Maybe Beta 2 (not RC2) it's pretty old. Has anyone else experienced this? I was looking forward to re-doing all of the songs on my website, especially the low-bitrate streams, but if my players won't play it, the same thing will probably happen to everyone visiting my site, so I'm hesitant to change anything. Suggestions? Thanks. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! I don't know about Sonique, but Winamp 2.5 is *ancient*. Please install Winamp 2.80. Players prior to RC2 will likely run into problems playing today's .ogg files, so you should at least upgrade your players to 1.0rc2. Winamp 2.80 (standard or full install) comes with an 1.0rc3 decoder, so it will play everything just fine. If you want to have the latest decoder for Winamp, download http://www.blorp.com/~peter/zips/in_vorbis.exe (.zip works, too, but needs manual installing). <p>Moritz Matt and Karin Lawson wrote:> I am very excited to see the Vorbis 1.0 out. > Unfortunately, neither Sonique 1.808a nor Winamp 2.5 > is willing to play the resulting files. The original team no longer works for Lycos, and the code is effectively frozen somewhere around beta3 or 4 i think. Time to get a new player :) jack. --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to 'vorbis-request@xiph.org' containing only the word 'unsubscribe' in the body.
