Using the VP3 ENCODER in a DIRECTSHOW GRAPH wit defined quality and BANDWIDTH - HOW?
Hello, Due to some licensing changes (and because I actually want to promote this, too) I want to replace our usage of Intel Indeo 5 with VP3 in a video conferencing pplication we are just developing (check: http://www.stnadby24.no/ for infos (english language) on the application). My problem is this: I need to define at least the bandwidth. I am feeding full frames from the camera with a given

Limiting bandwidth to around max. 8k per second - possible? UPDATE
Ok, we got it working with 176x144 resolution. The following string produced an image that was not falling behind too much for too long - basically a little when it was getting TONS of movement, and then catching up fast. "65 58 110 0 1 1 90 8 120 1 1 " Now, we need to get this working on a 320x240 resolution, too (as sadly VP3 does not support 160x120. Seems to be a little senseless,

Changing video quality during encoding
I don't know how to change a video quality on the fly - I want to provide a slider with a preview window, so user could see the result immediately in this window. I tried to send ICM_COMPRESS_FRAMES_INFO to encoder or calling ICSetState() - with no success however. Am I doing something wrong ? How can I set 'lDataRate', 'dwRate', 'dwScale' parameters ? I tried every

VP30
Hi, Can anyone tell me the significant differences between VP30 and VP31 (or are you allowed to)? Are there different token and quantizer tables? Are there algorithmic differences? I have a VP30-encoded file that plays with the VP3 VfW DLL but not with the open source decoder. Thanks... -- -Mike Melanson --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project

Web access to CVS tree - any chance this will be re-enabled at one point?
I tried it out on the Vp32 site - nothing in there. Says something of not matching the current tag. Nice. Theora's website does not have a web surface. Thomas Tomiczek THONA Consulting Ltd. Theora support in ffdshow a ffvfw
Hi, I'm developing ffdshow and ffvfw codecs for Windows. You can read more about them at http://cutka.szm.sk and http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow. Stéphane Bérubé asked me recently if I could implement Theora support. I knew about first Theora release, downloaded its sources and tested it. I liked the results add decided to support it. I implemented encoding functionality into ffvfw,

Can't find the setup code
Well, I've been slamming my head against this all night, so it's time to ask for help... Having gotten together a reasonably decent port of what I thought was the whole API to the Ogg Way, complete with Ogg mem management and bitpacking, I started digging deeper in the code... only to find that it looks like I only have a middle stream handler. The encode and decode code both assume that

VP3 Compressor Settings
Hi Guys, I was wondering what the idea behind the "Key Frame" settings are in the VP3 codec settings. As far as I could ascertain (from browsing through the source code) the VP3 codec ignores the lpbiPrev and lpPrev members of the ICCOMPRESS structure. My conclusion is thus that each frame passed to the codec is compressed individually and that the redundant information based upon

It's quiet. TOO quiet.
Whatever became of Ogg Theora? There seems to be still almost no news from Xiph or its developers regarding Ogg Theora. None at all since Mid-December, when the release of Alpha 2 was pushed back to a month ago... No news on plans for the second Alpha? No news of development "roadmaps"? No news on current developments or challenges that are stalling development? No CVS updates

VFW Codec
Hi everybody, I'm currently writing a real time video conferencing tool for Windows and I want to use the Theora Library for this purpose. My questions are: 1.) is there a vfw implementation of theora 2.) if no, can I bundle the VP3 vfw codec that's available from On2's website with my application Best regards, Florian (Stuttgart, Germany)

Why is vp31 codec 2x - 3x slower than DivX codec ?
I have a simple test program which encodes, decodes and displays a single video stream ( at 2-3 fps ). It takes about 15% of CPU time when it uses DivX codec, but 35% when the VP31 codec is active. Is there any way to speed encoding/decoding with VP31 ? Or maybe VP31 is just much slower than DivX ? Kamil <p>--- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage:

resolution issues
just added to the WIKI: * Ideas with some concensus after discussion on IRC, it was provisionally agreed (by those present at the time) that Theora should support arbitrary pixel sizes (presently it is limited to multiples of 16 both horizontally and vertically). It is felt that this can be achieved with minimal pain by adding four values to the page header, immediately following the present

Block Coding Pattern
Hi, There seem to be 2 sets of block coding patterns in the VP3x/Theora algorithm. Based on the comments in the code, the first pattern is used if encoder version < 6 and the second pattern is used in encoder version >= 6. None of the code to support the second pattern is ever called. Is there an encoder with a version >= 6? The code in question is

Video Codec problems
I'm having a problem with the Windows Media Player. Any avi/wmv/others that I try to download I receive the following error: Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file. Someone told me to go to this URL:?? http://www.vp3.com/cgi-bin/getvp3.pl And download this video codec and

Polycom IP 500 - MWI Not Working
Hello All, I have Polycom IP 500 phones which I would like to have message waiting indicators on. So far, I have my system running well but the problem I am seeing is that MWI doesn't seem to tell my phone that it should display a MWI state. The light does not show when you have message nor is there any indicator on the text lines of a message waiting. The wiki doesn't cover this

Using Theora Micro-HOWTO
Okay, thanks to some stubbornness on my part and helpfulness on the part of people on this mailing list, I got the Ogg Theora alpha compiled up and installed and running. Yesterday, I went to the Prelinger archives (the public-domain video archive at www.archive.com) to find a high-quality original to re-encode as a test. The encoder worked just fine, and playback as well, and I thought I'd
