A big 'Thank you' to the developpers
Thanks a lot for the new encoder_example and the two pass encoding. I was not yet able to compare the gain of it against my previously encoded video (HD content takes a lot of time to encode). Why it can not be used with -v ? Could it be possible in the future ? I had better result with -v than with -V before. Congratulations again. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was

firefogg local encode web-app
I mentioned it in the #theora channel a few days ago but here it is with a more permanent url: http://www.firefogg.org/make/advanced.html & http://www.firefogg.org/make/ These will be simple links you can send people so that they can encode source footage to a local ogg video file with the latest and greatest ogg encoders (presently thusnelda and vorbis). Updates to thusnelda and

ffmpeg2theora's website is down
Hi, do you know the author of the ffmpeg2theora project? Because his domain name, http://v2v.cc/, which hosts the project, expired on 2010-07-16, and pending renewal or deletion. The contact email address listed on the page also use the v2v.cc domain, so I cannot contact him. Please notify him ASAP if you know his other address! In the meantime, how can I install ffmpeg2theora 0.27 on Ubuntu? I

oggcat or other ways to combine theora videos (with or without re-encoding)?
hi guys, first of all, i'd like to ask if there any crossplatform software/service ( gui is also better, an online application like firefogg is great, or at least a command line tools for any platform) to combine theora videos, other than oggcat... i am doing some art projects that people should be able to remix featured theora videos and i find oggcat very usefull in theory but not in

XiphQT with Thusnelda?
I noticed that the latest release of XiphQT predates the release of Theora 1.1. What's the situation with a release of XiphQT with the Theora 1.1 encoder in it? Is such a release planned? (With all this iPad vs. Open Video discussion going on, it would be so much easier to advocate Theora if Mac-using content creators could simply install a pre-built binary and get an up-to-date Theora

Bad results, encoding keynote presentation videos
Hello, hope you can help me. I want to encode a video, which I have exported from Keynote (a program for presentation like MS Power Point) using ffmpeg2theora for html5 web delivery. The result only plays very buggy - frames are dropped, the video hangs and vlc can not output the correct length of the ogv video. Here is the source and the result for download, if you want to reproduce it: the

XiphQT / Theora Questions
Hello, I hope this is not an inappropriate list for this. This is the list suggested by http://www.xiph.org/quicktime/ I use Linux exclusively at the moment and do not plan on buying a Mac, but I am working on a CMS including html5 media support. Patent licensing costs forbid decoding proprietary video formats on the server for transcode into Ogg Theora so I am looking for a way that non

Update ffmpeg2theora in the Web page?
Hi, Isn't it time to update ffmpeg2theora in http://theora.org/downloads/ ? latest stable version listed is 0.24 from March 2009, when the "nightly" links points to the very recent firefogg version: ffmpeg2theora 0.24+svn16574 - Xiph.Org libtheora 1.1 20090822 (Thusnelda) It would give new comers a better impression if the stable release was a 1.1 based version like the one

metadata for theora (like ID3 tags in .mp3 files)
Hi there, I had read somewhere that theora also has metadata stuff like id3 tags does for .mp3 . If yes, Is there a link where I can read more about the same? Also are there any end-user tools (GUI-based) which can do this ? If yes, links of those as well. Looking forward to hearing more on that. -- Regards, Shirish Agarwal My quotes in this email licensed under

Live CD/DVD for encoding?
Hi - I'm running CentOS, which means many of the support libraries are a bit on the stale side. I have occasional need to transcode to theora - but it seems the transcode program, which I have managed to successfully install, does not have theora as an output option. It seems I have to use a program called ffmpeg2theora which I just can not get to build on CentOS - I'm guessing

Theora Workshop
Hi All, Firefox 3.1 will be released in a couple of months and I still feel we need a strong knowledge base to leverage a widespread use of Theora. While working on the Firefox in Motion video I've been looking for some kind of comprehensive documentation, but the best I could get was answers of the community here (thank you again). Theora will not become a standard if people have to err and

I'm almost very impressed with theora 1.1 beta 3
Firstly I have to say that having just tried out theora 1.1 beta 3 the improvement over the previous 1.0 is amazing. In my very subjective view it looks like the same quality for about half the bitrate and that's amazingly impressive. The results have for the most part been excellent and my congratulations to all concerned for there very hard work. There is (for me) only one serious problem
