Hello, hope you can help me. I want to encode a video, which I have exported from Keynote (a program for presentation like MS Power Point) using ffmpeg2theora for html5 web delivery. The result only plays very buggy - frames are dropped, the video hangs and vlc can not output the correct length of the ogv video. Here is the source and the result for download, if you want to reproduce it: the source, which plays smooth: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1477005/test_vid01.mp4 my result: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1477005/test_vid01.ogv I am using: ffmpeg2theora 0.27 - Xiph.Org libtheora 1.1 20090822 (Thusnelda) Here is the output of ffmpeg2theora: $ ffmpeg2theora /Users/michi/Desktop/test_vid01.mp4 Input #0, mov,mp4,m4a,3gp,3g2,mj2, from '/Users/michael/Desktop/test_vid01.mp4': Metadata: major_brand : isom minor_version : 512 compatible_brands: isomiso2avc1mp41 encoder : Lavf52.78.1 Duration: 00:00:23.96, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 245 kb/s Stream #0.0(eng): Video: h264, yuv420p, 640x360, 241 kb/s, 25.04 fps, 25 tbr, 600 tbn, 1200 tbc 0:00:24.00 audio: 0kbps video: 151kbps, time elapsed: 00:00:19 0:00:23.96 audio: 0kbps video: 151kbps, time elapsed: 00:00:19 Perhaps you have an ideam what's going on here.. Thanks in advance, Michael.

I think the problem is in the VLC which sometimes doesn't play my ogg videos correctly. Try other player and tell the results. Best Regards Gabriel Teixeira

[theora] Bad results, encoding keynote presentation videos
i had the same issue for my theora videos encoded with ffmpeg2theora using libtheora 1.1 20090822 with still frames when playing with vlc... still frames play only for one frame, no matter how long they are... but i do not think that this is the problem with ffmpeg2theora or libtheora it uses... even though i didn't check it with latest builds of libtheora, i think this is the problem with vlc, not with thora. my videos do play well with firefox... however, when people download the video and try to play it with vlc, the problem occurs... i tested your videos and they play fine with both firefox and vlc when downloaded... by the way, you can always get ffmpeg2theora builds using latest libtheora from the link below... http://www.firefogg.org/nightly/ firefogg always uses the latest builds... current one uses libtheora 1.1+ 20100314 .-_-. http://httpdot.net/.-_-./ ----------------------------------- From: Michael <racingralph2009+theora at gmail.com> Subject: [theora] Bad results, encoding keynote presentation videos The result only plays very buggy - frames are dropped, the video hangs and vlc can not output the correct length of the ogv video. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
