XiphQT
Not sure where to file bugs against XiphQT...
I have noticed that Theora encoded videos played through Quicktime (on
Mac) using XiphQT are incorrectly reproducing the color of the video,
and appear washed out. The same videos can be played via VLC and Firefox
and are true to the original - so I don't believe it's a problem with
the videos themselves or the encoding.

Update on Ptalarbvorm
Hi there,
I was wondering if someone closer to the work happening in the
Ptalarbvorm branch could be so kind as to provide a little update on
progress? I've heard tidbits from around the web that the improvement
over 1.1 is at least as much as 1.1 was itself over 1.0.
I know that myself and many others found Monty's occasional updates on
Thusnedla development to be absolutely fascinating

I''m trying to organize a Bay Cities Ruby Group in Southern California.
This would include the cities of Redondo Beach, Manhatten Beach,
Hermosa Beach, Torrance, Gardena, Lomita, etc. If you are interesting
in joining a group that would be like other ruby groups where we
discuss tricks, technique, theory, etc. and help each other, then

embed latex beamer sans serif default font into R plot
Hello,
I have seen instructions on how to embed Latex Computer Modern fonts into R, but these are the default serif fonts. I am trying to embed the default font used for Latex beamer (theme Warsaw), which is a sans serif font and may be the default LateX Computer Modern sans serif font. Does anyone know the names of the font files?
Thanks

libtheora 1.1 problem? with firefogg and ffmpeg2theora
hi all,
i have been trying to export some videos using firefogg in two pass mode. the problem i get recently with various files is that when i choose a low bitrate (for example 1200kbps for a 512x224 25fps video with so many details) the video quality is very very good at the beginning (much better then my quality based -v 5 export which produces a 1204kbps video with the same build) and then

Hmisc summary.formula formats for binary and continuous variables
Hello,
I am using Hmisc summary.formula, latex and Sweave to produce tables for publication. Is it possible to change the formats for binary and continuous variables? I would prefer to show 35 (10%) and 1.5 (1.2-1.8) rather than 10% (35) and 1.2 / 1.5 / 1.8. Here is a simple example:
sex <- factor(sample(c("m","f"), 500, rep=TRUE))
age <- rnorm(500, 50, 5)

Bad results, encoding keynote presentation videos
Hello,
hope you can help me. I want to encode a video, which I have exported
from Keynote (a program for presentation like MS Power Point) using
ffmpeg2theora for html5 web delivery.
The result only plays very buggy - frames are dropped, the video hangs
and vlc can not output the correct length of the ogv video.
Here is the source and the result for download, if you want to reproduce it:

Update ffmpeg2theora in the Web page?
Hi,
Isn't it time to update ffmpeg2theora in http://theora.org/downloads/ ?
latest stable version listed is 0.24 from March 2009, when the "nightly"
links points to the very recent firefogg version:
ffmpeg2theora 0.24+svn16574 - Xiph.Org libtheora 1.1 20090822 (Thusnelda)
It would give new comers a better impression if the stable release was a
1.1 based version like the one

These will be simple links you can send people so that they can encode
source footage to a local ogg video file with the latest and greatest
ogg encoders (presently thusnelda and vorbis). Updates to thusnelda and

Fwd: Theora developer question.
Hi Beorn,
1. replace "-v 7" to "--optimize --two-pass --soft-target -V 2000" you
will get about 200MB file size with no changes in quality.
2. try to use libtheora ptalarbvorm, it is in alpha state but has some
improvements. You can find comparison here:
http://people.xiph.org/~xiphmont/demo/theora/demo9.html
if you use ubuntu 10.10 you can download precompiled libtheora and
