Yum package/instlal/update problem
Hi gang! I'm trying to update my videolan client (0.8.4a-4.el4.rf) to the latest 0.8.6 version. I see that Dag has a 0.8.6 for EL4 (I'm running Centos 4.4) but when I do "yum update videolan-client" it says there's nothing to update. When I remove the videolan client than do "yum install videolan-client" it insists on trying to install the 0.8.4 version:

Theora promotion video for inside a <video> tag
Hi all, With the recent discussion about the video tag and the 1.0 release, I thought it was time to start promoting theora more. I've got a small SVG page as a homepage and would like to have a small theora promoting video in there. Something that says: "you support theora", or a swimming xiph fish or something... and of course a link for when it doesn't play right so the

Audacity encoded Vorbis skipping 1.5 seconds
Hi, ? I'm having trouble with Audacity and Vorbis. Having proccessed a number of raw WAV files, I export to a mono Vorbis file, quality 5. I open it first with VLC, then Windows Media Player, and both play the file aprx 1.5 seconds late, therefore skipping the first 1.5 seconds. Any idea why it's doing this, and how I can remedy it? ? Thanks very much, ?? James -------------- next

Theora dll in debug mode
Hi everybody. I have a problem using Theora in a specific way. I am going to explain that. I have downloaded ogg codecs for Windows on the Theora website. More precisely there are DirectShow Filters. I try to use Theora codec in a commercial application and the application crash. It doesn't with another codec like XviD, so the problem may be Theora codec. Note that I can use Theora outwards

Is Cortado dead?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA512 I am really interested in an alternative to the widely used flash video-players. itheora does a really good job by integrating cortado in an easy to use framework to allow the user to play the file either in his own media player or the cortado applet. But the actual version of Cortado has a really grave bug that makes playing some videos with java

idct8x8 C version in libtheora1.1 release
When using the IDCT routines, the C version [ lib/idct.c: oc_idct8x8_c(ogg_int16_t _y[64],int _last_zzi)] in libtheora 1.1.1, the decoded image is garbled. Is it functionally equivalent to the MMX optimized version [lib/x86/mmxidct.c: oc_idct8x8_mmx(ogg_int16_t _y[64],int _last_zzi)] ? I used some of the Theora video files from here: http://wiki.xiph.org/index.php/List_of_Theora_videos for

theora video plugin ? videolan plugin?
hi, I'm Alexander a just a question ? is there a reason why there shouldn't be a web player for theora in Mozilla FireFox ? or Internet explorer ? I'm thinking to compile videolan player with theora support only and enable the web plugin interface, it would replace the cortado player and possibly provide a better alternative to flash video plugin in linux when somebody starts a

archive of legacy oggenc/oggenc2 encoders for windows?
Interesting - is there any easy way to tie each of these builds to a windows application? I'm really not so familiar with how to do those types of things - didn't even know what DSF was until a few minutes ago! Stream Test
Hi Seeing as other people are posting streams to test, the system I have been developing has an Ogg/Vorbis/Theora stream that you can watch. I would appreciate any feedback to what players can play it and which players have problems. (I am using Icecast as the streaming server) So far I have found VideoLan plays the stream very well. MPlayer was ok, but wasn't as good at buffering.
