oggcat or other ways to combine theora videos (with or without re-encoding)?
hi guys,
first of all, i'd like to ask if there any crossplatform software/service ( gui is also better, an online application like firefogg is great, or at least a command line tools for any platform) to combine theora videos, other than oggcat...
i am doing some art projects that people should be able to remix featured theora videos and i find oggcat very usefull in theory but not in

do Sintel make bad image for theora?
Hallo all,
there is sintel online premiere up today http://www.sintel.org/ . But
oggtheora video is every thing but not gut. I downloaded 720p version
but IMHO some times it looks for me like scaled 480p. In my experience
theora can do better, or em i wrong?
strings Sintel.2010.720p.Theora-VODO give me fallowing:

firefogg local encode web-app
I mentioned it in the #theora channel a few days ago but here it is with
a more permanent url:
http://www.firefogg.org/make/advanced.html
&
http://www.firefogg.org/make/
These will be simple links you can send people so that they can encode
source footage to a local ogg video file with the latest and greatest
ogg encoders (presently thusnelda and vorbis). Updates to thusnelda and

howto for compiling libtheora on ubuntu 9.04 anybody ?
Hi all,
While we were talking of theora PPA's it occured to me is there
somebody who has made a howto to compile libtheora 1.1 alpha support
in ubuntu 9.04
Why?
2 reasons .
a. Whether we like it or not, Ubuntu is arguably one of the more
successful distributions.
b. When we compile any software we have the freedom and choice to add
in flags which make it better for the individual.

Thusnelda Video Quality
Wow.
Let me say that again, just in case you missed it.
Wow.
The quality looks to be on par with what I get out of H.264, but
Theora has the added benefit of free and open source software with no
patent worries so I can use it with a clean conscience. Thanks,
everyone.

Theora, liboil and Cell processors
Hello all,
On more than one occasion I have advocated the use of liboil over
incorporating mmx code into libtheora.
The two main reasons are:
1) To keep optimisation code in one place and out of the library.
Everywhere else in the Linux world there is a move to centralise in
order to co-ordinate experts and reduce redundancy. This reason does not
seem to find a lot of agreement in Theora as it

Theora/Thusnelda features questions.
Hello, My name is Robin Mar?n and I have some questions about the Theora
Codec/project...
First of all I don't know if this is the right place to ask but I haven't
found any Xiph/Theora forum or something similar...
I don't even know if this is the right way of "posting" in mailists... But
anyway...
I discovered Theora just like a moth ago when the 1st alpha of Thusnelda

Theora Intra (ptalarbvorm) vs. MJPEG
In the discussion of having a freedom-friendly camcorder or other video
device, we discussed the idea of using intra-only Theora video to make
post-recording editing a much easier process, allowing things like
frame-by-frame editing without the need to decode and reencode the video
again, thus incurring loss.
I was quite skeptical of the efficiency of intra-only Theora, and I had
speculated that

Theora performance
Hi list,
I just came across this site:
http://web.mit.edu/xiphmont/Public/theora/demo.html
I was wondering are these issues being addressed or will be addressed before
the 1.0 release?
Theora is like the only open sourced free code people can use, i will be
nice if it performs close to other libs.
please keep up the good work!

libtheora 1.1beta1 release
All,
After months of intensive development, we're finally coming to a
stopping point in our rewrite of the libtheora reference
implementation. All major features for the 1.1 are in, so it's down to
bug fixing now. Please try this first beta and give us feedback. Most
notable is that the encoder's rate control is much more configurable,
and more capable in each configuration than
