max mount count incovenient
Hello group
I added a new partition in fstab, and works without a problem.
I used mkfs.ext3 to create the partition.
My problem is that every 26 boots, the system tells that the partition
have no been checked since 26 systems boots, ant start to check my new
partition. This is a lot of time consuming, and always is in a bad
time.
There some way to do the check in a controlled time? i.e. do it the

Installing CentOS on RAID PATA not SATA - A8V
I'm trying to install CentOS 4 on an A8V on the
PATA/Raid drives on the Promise controller. The
Promise controller is recognized (sata_promise), but
the PATA drives are not recognized. Base on this
thread
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=147303
it seems that there is a patch which was merged in
2.6.11 to get pata working.
Any ideas how to proceed?
Thanks in advance

A while ago I built a new server that is intended to serve as a Xen
server running multiple DomU systems used a test environments for
systems that I am working on. The host Xen system will be CentOS 5 as
will some of the DomU systems. The systems will all be hardware virtualized.
The motherboard uses the nVidia

Another product that uses vorbis
I recently downloaded the Uru demo here:
http://www.3dgamers.com/games/uru/
It's the 4th iteration in the Myst series. It appears that all their
environmental sounds are compressed with Vorbis. When the game installs
it creates a directory full of .ogg files that play just fine.
While most of the sounds are footsteps and water splashes, the

Reinstalled Windows and GRUB - Cannot boot Linux - fstab and grub.conf errors?
Background: This is a dual boot (Windows XP and CentOS 5.2 (32 bit)
box. There were four (4) NTFS partitions. The C partition got full. I
deleted the 4 NTFS partitions and did a clean install of Windows XP,
into one (1) NTFS partition.
I knew that I would need to install GRUB again and I did that, using
the CentOS 5 Installation DVD. When I tried to boot into Linux, no
joy. this is the GRUB error

changing partition priority on install
Greetings.
I am in the process of installing 5.1 64 bit on a server. The server
has 2 3ware cards: 9550SX 12 port, and a 8006 2 port, both SATA.
I want the 8006 board to be /dev/sda, and the 9550 to be /dev/sdb. My
plan is to install the os on /dev/sda (8006), and data on /dev/sdb
(9550). Unfortunately, the 9550 comes up as /dev/sda.
The 8006 is installed in slot 3, which is a 100Mhz

Creating off line folders works fine but if any file is modified off line
and then sync'd back when the laptop is reconnected to the network it comes
back with an unable to connect - access denied message. But I can quite
happily copy the files over manually.
I have attached the log file (log level = 3) for the

Booting to USB Pen Drive
I am trying to use Syslinux as my boot loader for a stripped down
version of Knoppix (DSL) on a USB Pen Drive. I followed the instructions
verbatim on

no luck. The system will start to boot to the USB, but gives a Kernel
Panic. I will give all information that shows on the screen.
After I select Boot from USB (which on my

I was given the challenge recently of creating a LAN-LAN bridge between two

hundred metres from each other, using only existing Cat 3 wiring and without
having to resort
to an expensive and finicky 5 Ghz wireless link. I was able to create a 90

Translating Lilo to syslinux and (isolinux)
I have a Lilo.conf file, which I have tried for many hours to convert to
Syslinux. I looked around on the web for references on translating some
of the components. I want to convert it to Syslinux/Isolinux.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. When I tried to convert it
I made sure that the kernel and initrd had proper DOS names and such.
