R-devel/Linux x64/Sun Studio 12: Problem with Matrix
Dear Developers,
motivated by the new Sun Studio checks I compiled R-devel and several of
our packages with Sun Studio 12 on Fedora x64.
Everything worked fine and R-devel runs, with the exception of package
Matrix where compilation crashes with the following message. The error
occurs during building of the recommended packages and also if Matrix is
compiled separately:

Problem with R using pgi compiler on x86_64
Hi,
we have installed R-2.8.1 using the current pgi compiler (8.0.2) for
AMD64 on a SLES9 system.
When I try to install "Matrix" everything is fine until the last step.

Compiling Matrix on Solaris 10 x86-64 Sun Studio 12
Hi all,
I have trouble to compile Matrix packages on Solar10 x86-64 with Sun compilers.
I saw some postings on this but am not sure how to solve this problem.
It is becoming critical as I cannot install biocLite() because of its dependency on Matrix.
Could you direct me how to resolve the issue?
Thanks in advance!

'make install' fails on Solaris (PR#13946)
Full_Name: Bob Bownes
Version: 2.9.2
OS: Solaris 10
Submission from: (NULL) (164.55.254.106)
The sed lines in src/unix/Makefile confuse the grep distributed with Solaris
that gets configured by ./configure.
Switching from a separator of ':' to a separator of ',' fixes the problem.

Unable to compile R 3.1.3 under GCC 4.1.2 (Red Hat 4.1.2-51)
Hi all,
I'm unable to compile R under an HPC system (which like many HPC systems
doesn't always have the latest and greatest software). The version of
GCC is 4.1.2 under CentOS 5.7. Running ./configure gives the following
output:

Can't install package Matrix on solaris.
I'm using package Matrix, which I have installed on several flavours of linux system. But on an important solaris install, I can't make it work.
Initially, I thought the problem was using 'make' instead of 'gmake', but I masked around that, and still get errors. Those new errors seem to be related to 'cc' wanting some optional extras that I don't have

R with Sun Studio Fortran 95 compiler
Hi,
I am trying to compile R 1.9.1 and 2.0.0 on Solaris 2.8 with Sun Studio
Fortran 95 compiler but I have obtained some errors which I enclose. I
have compiled R with g77 GNU compiler and it was OK.
Does anyone know if R 2.0.0 has been successfully built on Solaris 2.8
with Sun Studio Fortran 95 compiler? or at least, How could I achieve
this? The R installation manual does not have any

Dear listers,
I have update to rtools43 and, using R 4.2.3 I have been surprised not
to be able to compile packages needing compilation when updating.
Looks like the path given in

BLAS and the Sun Performance Library
Hi, all,
We just got the Sun Performance Library for our Suns running Solaris 2.6,
and I read the relevant section of the "R Installation and Administration
Manual" about configuring R to use BLAS. The manual suggests you must use
Sun's "cc" and "f95" (maybe "f90"?) compilers in order to use the Performance
Library. We have "cc" but not

Trouble compiling R-2.10.0
Hi,
I am having trouble compiling R-2.10.0 on the Solaris x86_64 platform using
the native solaris-studio cc/F99 compilers.
I am pretty sure that I have all my environment set up for a 64-bit compile.
However, when doing a make I get the following error:
/opt/solstudio12.2/bin/cc -m64 -I./api -I. -I../../../src/include
-I../../../src/include -I/usr/local/include -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -KPIC -xO3 -c

Help Needed in attempting to install 64-bit R!
Hello R Help,
I am attempting to install/build a 64-bit version of R to hopefully resolve some memory.limit problems for a user who is running a simulation. The 'configure' runs fine and the compilation (make) runs fine until the very last part (see below). I have libiconv in /usr/local/lib (no sure why I am getting the referencing error). The config.site file is attached. ANY HELP YOU

Re: unix R CMD check problem
Doh!
turns out I was using a newer feature of S-PLUS that is not supported in R,
or at least was generating the parse error.

Sorry to bother anyone ... smooth sailing ahead.
