GUI component Margin on tkcanvas, tkframe or tktoplevel
Dear gurus: I have a question on how to configure the margin layout on tcl/tk GUI objects like tkcanvas, tkframe or tktoplevel. For example, if I want to leave a larger margin on the left side of the GUI container, which one should I configure, the toplevel or tkcanvas or tkframe? top<-tktoplevel() canvas<-tkcanvas(top, relief=, borderwidth=...) I also find the documentation for all

tcltk resizing when using tkgrid for layout
I've been able to figure out on my own how to do what I need in the largely undocumented tcltk package, but I've finally hit a wall. I can't even think of any sufficiently specific search terms to use for this. I'm trying to make the widgets in my tk window resize when the window is resized by clicking and dragging on its corners or edges. Instead they stay exactly where they

tkcanvas/bitmap for Turtle World
To represent a turtle inside a canvas (tcltk package), I have a serie of bitmaps representing the turtle heading in different directions and I would like to display the one that corresponds to the current direction of the turtle (function below). I have created with Paint a bitmap representing the turtle in BMP format and succeeded displaying it on canvas after converting it into XBM format

tcltk scrollbar
The following code should give me (at least that's what I think) two list boxes with their individual scrollbars. But instead both scrollbars stick to the same listbox even though they work as they should (scroll individual listboxes). When I remove all the widgets on top everything works perfectly. Any help would be highly apprecciated. ps: all subsequent listboxes and scrollbars work

tcltk: multiple listboxes, selection
Dear list, I have multiple (BWidget) listboxes in the same toplevel window. The problem is, if I select (by left clicking) on one of those listbox elements, the current selection in the *other* listboxes is cleared! Anybody knows how I can prevent this? Here's my code (sorry not complete): (E.g. If I select an X value, I'd lose the Y value I selected before) gui.create.tab.general <-

Is it possible to pass a Tcl/Tk component as argument to a function
hi! All: I wonder if someone has done this before... I am writing several functions that conduct statistical analysis using a GUI interface by Tcl/Tk, they share many identical GUI components. What I am trying to do now is to simplify the code by writing a GUI repository for all the components they use, thus save effort for code maintenance. Since they all use: mainFrame <-

tcltk, X11 protocol error: Bug?
Hi, I am having trouble debugging this one. The code is attached below, but it seems to be a problem at the C-tk interface. If I run this 1 time there are no problems if I run it more than once I start to get warnings that increase in multiples of 11 everytime I run it. Here is a sample session > source("clrramp2.r") Loading required package: tcltk Loading Tcl/Tk interface ... done

embed image in R-tcltk canvas
Hi, I think that R-tcltk doesn't have the capacity to display an image stored in memory on a tkcanvas object, am I right? I have digged around everything I can find from Peter Dalgaard and tcltk references and drew my conclusion. Can you, Peter, or some other gurus on the list, give us a pointer or two on how to proceed to solve this problem? I am afraid that it may involve writing C

R-tk mailing list
This is to announce that Martin Maechler has set up a new mailing list with the purpose of investigating the possibility to use Tcl/Tk with R. As you may know, Tcl is a scripting language and Tk is its GUI toolkit. In the context of R, the main attractions are - portability X/Win3.1/Win32/Mac - ease of implementation (people say...) - nice GUI model of Tk - possibility of making language

stuck tcltk scrollbars under Windows XP
Dear R-devel list members, I've encountered a problem with my Rcmdr package under Windows XP and could use some advice: The Rcmdr package uses the tcltk package to create menus and dialog boxes. My standard procedure when a dialog is created is to grab the focus -- e.g., by tkfocus(top) tkgrab(top) (Here, top is a top-level window -- say, containing one or more scrollbars.)

I have compiled Darwin R using the AquaTk frameworks. This works (except for a small glitch). I am sure Stefano could hook these into Carbon R, but Jose/Stefano probably should connect them with the Cocoa interfaces. You can get the frameworks (8.4a5, I think) from ftp://ftp.ucsd.edu/pub/alpha/tcl/alphatk/ -- they are in the alphatk.dmg. Of course the X11 version of tcltk does NOT work with Carbon

Difficulties with R.oo (static fields, etc.)
I would like to use R.oo and tcltk to implement a Turtle World. I have encountered many problems because: 1) I am not sure how to implement static fields with R.oo 2) I am not sure how to implement a constructor that would call a function only for the first instance of a class (i.e., to initialize value of static fields only once) 3) I am not sure how to remove/delete cleanly existing

tklistbox selection
Hi, I'm posting yet another question about tcltk since I'm still struggling with the package. I'm trying to create a tklistbox and a ttkcombobox on the same parent and am having a problem. Here's an example: library(tcltk) tt <- tktoplevel() tcl1 <- tclVar() tcl2 <- tclVar() tclObj(tcl1) <- letters[1:5] tclObj(tcl2) <- LETTERS[1] tb1 <- tklistbox(tt,
