Gameguard ruins wine?
A little quote from the official cabal forums:
> Playing Cabal on linux is impossible thanks to gameguard, WINE (or Cedega) cannot correctly emulate the environment needed for gameguard to run which causes Cabal to exit with an error. You should check the WINE (and Cedega) websites for other people views/experiences trying to run any gameguard protected game on linux, none of them work.

NT domain logon questions
Hi. Myself and a anti-Micro$oft companion tried to get
NT domain logons working yesterday and seem pretty close, but
not quite.
Samba is 1.9.18alpha3, server is an Ultra-2 running SunOS 5.5.1.
Encrypted passwords seem to be working, a la smbclient and mostly
from NT, "mostly" because it *seemed* to be working but we did
have some problems with home directories in smbpasswd changing

fixing cannot route packet error
I am seeing a problem that looks the same as that described in
message:
http://mail.nl.linux.org/tinc/2001-06/msg00000.html
titled : Error: cannot route packet - please help
The thread says it is fixed in the CVS version.
I did a "cvs checkout -r CABAL tinc" and installed
that version. Now tinc always fails trying to
establish the meta-data connection. I assume I
compiled something

plockstat - chopped stack output
Hi - I''m trying to use plockstat to help identify any mutex contention issues we may have in our c++ app.
>From the docs it would appear to be a very useful tool - unfortunately in practice this doesn''t bear out purely because the stack traces produced are limited to being 39/40 characters wide. In general this means that I''m not seeing ~75% of each stack symbol and

CentOS Based Infromational Document
For those of you who are either part of the secret cabal, or are otherwise
keeping track of it, there is a new version available.
The current version of the cryptex is version 3.1. It's changed rather
significantly in some areas.

wxRuby-0.6.0, wxRuby2, SWIG and....
Hi, my first post here so a little background first...
I started out using wxRuby-0.6.0 about 4 months ago while trying to get a grip
on Ruby as a means of writing a little budgetting app I''ve been meaning to
write for a couple of years. As I didn''t like the way that the wxruby
examples are coded (having to punch the individual C++ api methods that way
isn''t nice) I

Samba3 Win95 interoperability
Greetings,
I am trying to get samba3 to work well with W95. The windows 95
box can see the samba server, but cannot authenticate (claims wrong
password) to get to any shares. I know the smbpasswd is good as I can
authenticate and get to the shares using the same account and password on
a W2000 machine. I suspect I am doing something wrong in the [global]
section of the samba server.

tinc-1.0pre8 fails to compile on RH 9.0
Hi,
I had posted a similar question a few days back(but my mails started
bouncing back, when I tried to post to the newsgroup). So here is it
again.
My System: Rh 9.0 (2.4.20-13.9), openssl-0.9.7a-5, openssl-devel-0.9.7a-5
Autoconf tools: autoconf-2.57-3, automake-1.6.3-5
1. When I try to compile tinc-1.0 pre8 on my RH 9.0 system, it fails..
When I do a ./configure, it aborts saying:

No interest in partial auth?
Hi,
I don't mean to be annoying, but it seems like there isn't any interest in
partial authentication. Is this true? It's not a future plan for OpenSSH
to have this feature?
I'd just like to know if I'm on my own or not.
Thanks
Erik.

using tinc in a mixed ipv4/ipv6 network
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hi,
I'm using tinc to connect a couple of ipv6 capable machines using a mix
of upd6, udp4, tcp6 and tcp4. Now I wanted to add an linux embedded
device, which has no ipv6 support at all. Tinc did compile and
configuration is fine (tested on other machine), but after connecting
the embedded device to other hosts tinc instances, it suddenly crashes.

Installing Samba4
We have trouble installing samba4 and we can?t found documentation about
setup, join domains, etc...
We use rsync command to download samba

error:
./autogen.sh: running script7mkversion.sh

NT - Not allowed from this workstation
I am the sysadmin in an office with an overabundance of Win95 machines and
a few NT 4.0 workstations. All installs went relatively easy for logon
scripts, wins, etc. I have run into a semi-serious problem with 2 of the
3 NT workstations. (All running the same service pack - 1).
When trying to make a share from one of the 2 remaining workstations, I
will recevie an error message saying that:

tinc1.0pre3
I gave tinc1.0pre3 a test after the modifications you have done today.
It insists that it is still 1.0pre2 but this is due to the fact the you
used "1" as tag for configure.in rather than "CABAL".
Anyway - results were not much more successful than yesterday:
*** SERVER side log file from startup until sone seconds after connection
was established ***

Re: Coming round to SURS...
i have a question for the people who sponsor the samba team.
"when are you going to realise that your money is being
wasted by not sponsoring me as a design architect on
NT compatibility software suites for unix?"
here - yet again, another demonstration of how much money you have
been wasting.
hopefully this time this "really new" proposal - i.e. yet
ANOTHER idea and
