tinc SECURITY INFORMATION - Unauthorized access to VPN

New config directive VpnMask
Hello Mads,
In case you never saw any mail from me, I'm tinc's co-author. It would be
helpful if you'd subscribe to the tinc developpers mailing list. It's not
high volume, but it eases communication.
There's a problem with tinc's boot scripts (at least the debian one, but
that's fixed now). The netmask of the tap devices should be larger than
the one specified with

Wine and Platypus
Some time ago, I posted some questions/statemets to -users and -devel about
getting Platypus (the ISP billing software) running under wine. I received
zero responses, but did a fair bit of hacking on my own.
Due to the number of requests for information I've gotten about this, I've
decided to post my work publicly. This will hopefully be maintained in
online archives, so future people

Packaging an Application on Mac OS X with Platypus
Platypus (http://sveinbjorn.sytes.net/platypus) is an application that
takes a shell script and packages it as a clickable Mac OS X
application.
I would like to have a clickable application that executes the command
"script/server" and displays the output in the text window, alongside
with a "quit"-button that ends the server process.
My shell script looks like this:

RedHat initialization script and bash2
Installing the new tinc on a system (Mandrake 7.0) that uses bash2 as it shell
turned up a problem with the redhat initialization script.
Attached is a patch to make it functional for both bash and bash2.

Rewritten script /etc/init.d/tinc
THis is the modified script that came with tinc 1.0pre2, and it now uses ifconfig in stead of
ip-route.
I changed the syntax to be correct (may already have been fixedin a newer version), it now checks
whether or not there is a '/dev/tapX' or a '/dev/netlink/tapX' and it checks if there is a module or
not.
I also added the force_connect and the reload options. Force_connect send

wine and Platypus
I've been trying to get Platypus (the ISP billing software by Boardtown)
working under wine on-and-off for the past couple of months. Last time I
checked, there were some Visual FoxPro problems. Those have now been
resolved, but I get an 'insufficient memory' error as soon as Plat tries to
contact the SQL database.
Has anyone gotten it to work under wine yet? Anything I should

Network confusion
Whens the point and click GUI coming out?
All kidding aside, I seem to be confused about some of the network
settings. Essentially all I want is a secure tunnel from machine A to B
on two different physical networks, but I can't seem to get there.
Just to get things figured out I've got two machines on the same physical
network, mach A: 192.168.0.1, mach B: 192.168.0.3. bcast is

Can anybody recommend a good T1/PRI provider ?
Are you looking for local or Long distance? What will these T1s primarily be
used for(inbound/outbound, domestic, local, long distance, international)
How important are per minute rates to you? how many minutes do you expect to
use per month?
We are in Tampa Florida and have 15 T1s from several different providers so
I may be able to refer you to one if it's a match to what you're

HowToHandleMultipleRelationshipsBetweenTables?
I have two tables where one of the tables contains two columns that
reference the id of the other.
This problem is partially described in the "HowTo..." with the topic
title above.

Problems installing & using SAMBA 1.9.18p3
Hi all,
First of all I am running (SunOS 5.5.1 Generic May 1996).
My questions are about the Makefile.
(1) Line 145 - WHICH OPERATING SYSTEM?
If I uncomment one of the lines, what variable must I use.
(2) If I don't uncomment the above then I get an error when running make.

I believe this 'rule' in English is misunderstood by many and as a
general rule of thumb...
tl;dr:
Words from Old English that came into modern English, use 'Old English'
pluralisation: eg, sheep, fish etc.

Newbie question - Rails without database
Hello to all,
I am entirely new to Ruby and also to Ruby on Rails. As far as I understand,
Rails builds its model according to the a specified table structuree in in the
database.
However, most of my applications, are for the most part (except some backend
CRUD stuff) not database centric. They do a lot of calculation for the user.
So, how can I create a model, when no database is needed,

h323.conf - Asterisk not routing incoming calls based on IP - Ignoring type=user + host= + context=
Ok, at the bottom of my h323.conf file on my 1st server I have this:

type=user
host=209.237.227.185
context=termination-test

Using an Asterisk at the other IP, I have this:
exten => _1NXXNXXXXXX,1,Dial(H323/${EXTEN}@64.135.11.85,,o)
This should send a call from the test-server to the IP of the 1st server;
