ergm crashes
Dear all, I am doing a social network analysis using ergm. I import a rectangular matrix of data and then I build a network using the following command: ng <-network(mat,directed=FALSE) I then attach vertex names using commands like this: set.vertex.attribute(ng,"SchoolType",mSchType) where SchoolType can take six different/unique values. Then, I run ergm models successfully using

Dear colleagues, I have another question, which, I think cannot be answered easily by the manual. What is the effect of including both nodefactor("Gender") and nodematch("Gender",diff=TRUE)) for the same variable in the model? Judging from the output (please see below), you cant have estimates for both for boys and girls forthe nodematch command, but I thought that the

multiple values for a factor using nodematch in ergm()
Greetings, and many thanks for any insight you can offer. I have a network object on which I'd like to simulate an ergm() using {statnet}. Since the network object is large, I have not copied it here. Each vertex has an attribute "language" which can take on integer values greater than or equal to 1. Is there a way to use the nodematch argument of ergm(), such that it searches for

Selecting row indices from a data.frame by a factor and simple calculation (miniumum)
Hello I wish to extract the row indices from a data.frame in which a column contains numeric data by calculating the minimum value, but grouped on another column factor: An example data.frame: Code absdiff NY14/3070 2 NY14/3070 4 NY14/3070 1 NY14/5459 5 NY14/5459 7 So in this case the factor is Code and the numeric vector is absdiff The

Exporting a method to a cluster object
Hi, This is my first message to this list. It would be great if people here could help me with the following problem (self-contained code example below): I have a list of matrices and would like to apply a summary function to the matrices in the list. The matrices represent social networks, therefore I need to apply some specialized summary functions provided by the ergm package. These

bigmemory
To answer your first question about read.big.matrix(), we don't know what your acc3.dat file is, but it doesn't appear to have been detected as a standard file (like a CSV file) or -- perhaps -- doesn't even exist (or doesn't exist in your current directory)? Matching multiple nodes with a regular expression
Hello, I''m setting up puppet on various clusters (tomcat, mysql, tomcat +cocoon, etc) of computers, each of which has a hostname consisting of the cluster type and a unique id (e.g. tc-dev-1, mysql-stg-3, etc). I''ve been merrily adding each node by hand to puppet but being naturally lazy I wondered if this could be done with a regular expression instead, something along the

Graphlet degree distribution agreement in
Hi all, I have created my network using igraph package. It provides graphlet function to calculate number of graphltes. I want to find graphlet degree distribution agreement of a graph. How can i achieve that..?? The package ergm.graphlets is there in r but there isn't any examples available for usage of this package. My R script is: library(igraph) g2 <- graph.formula(A:B - A:C, X:Z -

140 packages in R Commander!!
Dear List I just downloaded and installed R 2.12.0 and then installed R Commander . First it got RCmdr and Car, and then suggested for other packages for utilizing the full functionality- I clicked yes! I got 140 packages installed!!! Cran Mirror was UCLA... Here is the list. Is this intentional- I can see some packages like snow and multicore which are desirable but quite optional.(see list

using fmod in C code to be loaded into R
Dear People, I wrote the following bit of C code and (along with other bits) called it mycode.c, and compiled the file into a shared library to load into R, using R CMD SHLIB mycode.c. This was Ok, but when I tried to load this into R using dyn.load("mycode.so") I got the error > dyn.load("mycode.so") Error in dyn.load(x, as.logical(local), as.logical(now)) : unable to

sum elements in the vector
Suyog, Thanks for the reply. Do you know if it is possible to add a new intrinsic without actually modifying core code (ISDOpcodes.h is an example of core code)? I'd like to add this intrinsic with as little code change as possible. bigmemory - extracting submatrix from big.matrix object
I am using the library(bigmemory) to handle large datasets, say 1 GB, and facing following problems. [Fwd: adding more columns in big.matrix object of bigmemory package]
Hi, With reference to the mail below, I have large datasets, coming from various different sources, which I can read into filebacked big.matrix using library bigmemory. I want to merge them all into one 'big.matrix' object. (Later, I want to run regression using library 'biglm'). I am unsuccessfully trying to do this from quite some time now. Can you please
