err: cannot create directory, parent doesn''t exist. But it does.
I just updated to 0.22.2 and am running into a strange issue.
I''m starting puppetmaster, and seeing this in my error log:

Washington, DC Meetup?
Hi all,
I''m going to be in DC early next week, keeping my wife company while
she''s at a science conference. Are there any puppeteers in DC? If
so, anyone want to meet up somewhere for dinner or something?

RRD Graphs
Hi all,
I''ve significantly reworked the RRDGraph report. Here''s some test
output based on the reports lying around on my systems:
http://luke.madstop.com/rrdtest/
Currently, everything except the top-level index.html file will get
generated automatically by the report.
I can already see I need to go check out my virtual machines, since
they''re making changes

Parsechecking in a commit hook
This has been a much-requested feature, and is now a reality (in svn
trunk):
There is a new option, --ignoreimport, that will (surprisingly)
ignore import statements. This is really only useful when using --
parseonly in a commit hook, and note that you''ll have to add the
option to --parseonly, none of the puppet executables will add it for
you. You should be able to

Hello Everybody,
I have been trying to use the rrdgraph reporting

Foreman reports - no pretty pictures :D
I''m playing around with foreman for the moment. I can''t seem to figure
out how to make the dashboard look like in this screenshot
http://theforeman.org/wiki/foreman/Screenshots#Dashboard
In order for those statistics to work what should be done?
I have activated the rrdgraph reports in puppetd, uncommented the line
":rrd_report_url: report/" in config/settings.yaml

Speed bumps on the way to successfully running puppetmasterd on Mac OSX Leopard, try one and two
Hey all,
I have recorded my steps towards getting puppet functional
through one of the four different methods that I can think of, which
are:
1.Source(copying and insatlling to the recommended unix FSH
directory, /usr/local/src)
2.pkg hosted at explanatorygap
3.MacPorts
4.RubyGems
I haven''t cleanly tested the last two, but here''s where I am with the
first two:

ANNOUNCE: Puppet 0.22.3
Hello everyone,
I''m in the process of publishing a very small update release to
Puppet, 0.22.3. Here''s the changelog:
Fixed the authoconfig parameter so it is always defined.
Enabling attribute validation on the providers that subclass
''nameservice'', so we can verify that an integer is passed to
UID and GID.

Reports in Puppet
Hi,
I wanted to configure reporting in puppet. I came across the
below links which says what needs to be added in config file to enable
reports.
But I was wondering how I view the visual report/graphs do I need to
create my own script.

New Feature: External node sources
Hi all,
As requested by at least one person (and because I''d been thinking
about it and figured it would be a good idea), I''ve just made it
simple to use external node sources with Puppet.
If you set ''external_nodes'' to a command (the default is ''none''),
then Puppet will call that command and use it to configure nodes.

ANNOUNCE: 0.23.0 release
Hi all,
I''ve finally released 0.23.0 (only two days late!). You can get it
from the usual locations (although the packagers will take a little
while to package it up, I assume):
https://reductivelabs.com/trac/puppet/wiki/InstallationGuide
You can read the full changelog[1], which is pretty long, but here''s
a summary of the things you either want or should look out for:

rrd library missing
I am trying to get rrd graphs working, but I am getting the infamous
"RRD library is missing; cannot store metrics". Everything I have
read about the error applied to redhat or ubuntu. I am using Solaris
10.
I installed both the rrdtool Solaris package and the RubyRRDtool gem.
When I run "ruby -rRRDtool -e ''puts :yep''", it successfully returns

ZFS monitoring - best practices?
We''re starting to grow our ZFS environment and really need to start
standardizing our monitoring procedures.
OS tools are great for spot troubleshooting and sar can be used for
some trending, but we''d really like to tie this into an SNMP based
system that can generate graphs for us (via RRD or other).
Whether or not we do this via our standard enterprise monitoring tool

I've also tried adding the pgsql and mysql RPM's and they're not

Re: How to conditionally run defines? (and a question about updating... )
OK, too bad. I could work around it of course by adding ''unless'' and
''creates'' clauses on all the individual parts of the define where
appropriate, but I think I''ll just ignore the warnings and overhead for now.
It would be cool, though, if something like the ''unless'', ''onlyif'', etc,
logic was available for all

Looking for descriptions of difficult problems
Hi all,
Paul Anderson, a friend of mine who works at the University of
Edinburgh, is looking for complicated problems that are currently
difficult to handle with existing config mgmt tools.
Please read his request below, and if you have any difficult problems
that seem to meet his needs, I''d appreciate it if you would send
descriptions of them to him.
Thanks,
Luke
