getting swat to run on Hewlit Packard HPUX 10.20
I've just downloaded and installed the SAMBA binaries for HPUX 10.20. I'm
been unsuccessful in getting swat to run though. I've made the correct
entries in the /etc/services file (swat 901/tcp) and in the /etc/inetd.conf
file (swat stream tcp nowait.400 root /opt/samba/bin/swat swat) and
have shutdown and restarted the inetd daemon. When I use Netscape and

Need help with SWAT
No matter what I try, I cannot get SWAT to work. No, I'm new to solaris, so maybe I'm not doing something that should be done prior to trying to use SWAT. Samba does seem to be working, somewhat. I can connect to a share using the smbclient on the same solaris system that I installed samba on....but I cannot connect to the share on the solaris system with my Windows XP system. Since it is

INETD Question.
I'm currently running version 2.0.7 of samba(CIFS9000). I have HPUX 11.x
installed on the samba server. When I try to run this from inetd it doesn't
work. I can run a startup script that runs the smbd as a daemon and it works
fine. But if I try to run it from inetd it won't start. The previous version
of Samba 1.9.18p10 that I had on this server worked fine. Is this a bug in

All works except SWAT !
However, I checked if the line "swat 901/tcp" is in the file
/etc/services and it's in order
My file /etc/inetd.conf contains the line :

SWAT conflicts w/ Apache 1.3 HTTP server???
Hello,
I am running a small network, Win., FreeBSD (Unix), & Macs.,
administering through SWAT. Needing to run an intranet I installed an
Apache 1.3 HTTP server running in standalone mode. Now I have lost the
ability to access SWAT through the http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:901 port.
Guess it requires some special configuration of the server - SWAT runs
in inetd mode, will this cause a conflict?

Help with SWAT
Hello all,
I just installed 3.0.24 in AIX5.3 using installp binaries. The install went
well, and I can connect to shared directories from Windows. When I try to
log in to the SWAT tool, it does not accept the password of any userid that
I try with, including root. I don't recall having to do anything special to
use SWAT on my older servers running SAMBA 2.2.8.
I have added the following

I kept on trying to migrate my pool with children (see previous threads) and had the (bad) idea to try the -d option on the receive part.
The system reboots immediately.

No changes were made on the box.

disabling swat during compile
Howdy folks, I am compiling 2.2.8 from source on a Caldera Openlinux 2.3 box
to replace the 2.0.x version that is there. I do NOT want to use swat at all.
How do I stop it from being compiled/installed? The only swat related
configure switch I could find is where to put the swat stuff, but nothing to
disable it period.
TIA

swat on red hat 7.2
Hi,
I'm having a minor issue with swat on red hat 7.2. It won't let me make
any changes to the samba server (adding shares, printers, and global
definitions). The buttons to access these simply don't exist. I can view
status, but I can't make any changes (not even restart the daemons).
This works fine on my Debian system. The only real difference that I can
think of is inetd

Help with Swat
Hello!
I am a Linux newbie. I have put a DHCP network together (to share windows
drives on home computers) and I cannot get SWAT to work. On Redhat 7.0, SWAT
is a choice in the settings bar on the Gnome desktop. When I run swat, the
error message is something like "error, connection timed out" from Netscape.
As far as I can tell, the port is inactive "http://localhost:901"

SWAT port change
Hi Folks,
I have a conflict on port 901 which is the default for SWAT. I tried to
reassign it to port 902 in /etc/services and this did not work. Does any
one know how to re-assign the port number for SWAT? (We use AIX)
Thanks
