I've just downloaded and installed the SAMBA binaries for HPUX 10.20. I'm been unsuccessful in getting swat to run though. I've made the correct entries in the /etc/services file (swat 901/tcp) and in the /etc/inetd.conf file (swat stream tcp nowait.400 root /opt/samba/bin/swat swat) and have shutdown and restarted the inetd daemon. When I use Netscape and access http://samba-server-name:901 I get a unable to connect to server error message. Am I missing something here? Any suggestions on what I should try next? thanks, John John McCaleb I-DEAS Project Manager The Boeing Company Seal Beach, California 562/797-4365

getting swat to run on Hewlit Packard HPUX 10.20
Hi John, Works for me!: /etc/services: swat 901/tcp # SAMBA Web-based Admin Tool /etc/inetd.conf: swat stream tcp nowait.400 root /opt/samba/bin/swat swat ll /opt/samba/bin/swat : -rwxr-xr-x 1 root users 813915 Jan 3 19:47 /opt/samba/bin/swat Maybe check the following: 1. do you have an inetd.sec; and is it allowing this service to be run for the ip address of the server and client that is accessing it? 2. does swat have execute permission on it? 3. is there any other defined service that is using port 901? check with netstat -an to see if this port is busy for some reason.... Hope this helps, Don -----Original Message----- From: McCaleb, John P [mailto:John.McCaleb@West.Boeing.com] Sent: Tuesday, April 03, 2001 6:54 PM To: 'samba@lists.samba.org' Subject: getting swat to run on Hewlit Packard HPUX 10.20 I've just downloaded and installed the SAMBA binaries for HPUX 10.20. Can anyone confirm that the Win2K probs are fixed in 2.2a3?
Specifically, the file corruption/locking problems with a shared database with Win2K clients? Also, I never saw an answer to this issue with respect to 2.07 - if I missed it, or if anyone knows how to make Win2K clients work well in the above scenario, I wo0uld dearly appreciate hearing how to do it. Thanks! Charles Marcus
