I usually run swat from inetd.
Add this line to your /etc/services
swat 901/tcp
And this line to your /etc/inetd.conf
swat stream tcp nowait.400 root /usr/local/samba/bin/swat swat
Then killall -HUP inetd
Now you can access swat from any browser on any client.
e.g. with lynx
lynx http://server:901

hello all, I am trying to create a samba user using swat, but it always complains that the user is not in the /etc/passwd database as it should, I tryed using "log level = 100" but nothing shows up on the log file. here is the config file for my samba server, I've been playing with values. please advice. esv. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Hello all, Would anyone be kind enough to stop laughing at me and explain what the "Create User" button is for on the swat User interface? is it just to add a user from the /etc/passwd file to the smbpasswd one? thanks, esv. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Hi Enrique, Not laughing - that's correct. The Create User button is for adding a samba user to the smbpasswd file, and it requires that there be a unix user already existing.
