Windows 2000 Small Business Server to Samba migration
Well this has turned out to be a nightmare!
Does anyone have any tips on migrating from SBS to Samba? The normal
rules seem not to apply... see below.
I have samba 3.0.7 running on Debian Sarge 3.1 and want it to replace
an existing Win2k SBS domain controller. The Samba machine will be
the PDC and therefore will be doing all the domain authentication.
I was hoping to make the migration as

Migrate DC from Small Business Server 2011 to Samba 4
Hello Thor,
>From our experience with one client whom had the same situation as you, we first migrated exchange to another mail system then we migrated the AD part.
The SBS version we had to migration only allowed a secondary DC for a fixed period of time .
The Exchange mail extensions were properly handled by Samba, even if they weren't used anymore.
I don't remember the exact

MS Office 2000 Small Business instalation problem
Hello.
I'm trying to install MS Office 2000 Small Bussiness (Polish version) with
latest CVS wine. First I get a small message box that tells me, that my
Windows Installator is being upgraded, then I get an error message, that
could be roughly translated as:
"Windows system Installer in this system has been upgraded. You have to
restart system to finish this upgrade

Centos 6.3 Home-Based Small Business Server
Hi;
My username is: darrellsalter
I have written an HTML document explaining how to set up a Centos 6.3 Home-Based Small Business Server and I was wondering if this is something you might want in your wiki perhaps under the How to #7 Web Server section.
?

Migrate DC from Small Business Server 2011 to Samba 4
Hi,
I want to migrate a Windows Small Business Server 2011 domain controller
to Samba 4. The SBS2011 has about 40 users and 100 client computers.
Also about 50 GPOs are in use. Furthermore there is Exchange running on
the SBS and it has to stay there for the next couple of month (it will
be replaced by a new mail system later).
So far I think I can either try to migrate or start from

samba slave with winbind fails to communicate with the PDC
Hi all,
After the net rpc join successfuly established to the Samba PDC (net
rpc testjoin ok), the following commands fail:
# wbinfo -u
Error looking up domain users
# wbinfo -g
Error looking up domain groups
#wbinfo -t
checking the trust secret via RPC calls failed
Could not check secret
# net rpc testjoin
Join to 'RSP' is OK
It appears that, still under valid relationship with the PDC

samba and ms server 2008
Hi
I am about to set up a Centos server with samba and an MS server 2008 for a
new customer.
The MS server is required because he has an MSSQL application. The samba
shares will be for everything else.
I've previously set up centos and redhat servers as domain members with a
2003 pdc
before I get stuck, are there any issues I should worry about with server
2008?
What release of samba should I

All works except MS Office 2003 Pro navigation of win . shortcuts to shares
Hi,
That 4. a.m. periodicity is logrotate restarting your samba in order to
rotate it's logs...
The "Processing section..." appears everytime a new smdb starts ( every new
client connection to server, samba restarting, etc).
If you want to force it, just restart your samba. Remember that windows
caching may get in the way. So if you really want to be sure, restart also

Joining Samba4 to Domain as DC with Small Business Server 2008 - error with Exchange ldap entries
Hi All
I'm trying to join and existing Windows domain with Samba4, on Centos 6.5
Final. I initially tried with the Centos rpm's but it seems the
samba-tools didn't exist so I am now using the rpms from SerNet Enterprise
SAMBA.
The current DC is a Windows Small Business Server 2008 that provides file,
print, DNS, DHCP, AD and MS exchange/Outlook Web access.
The domain Company.local

tips to speed up sqlSave with MS SQL Server?
I am using R2.6.0 on “Windows Small Business Server 2003”. I apologize if the answer to my question is available…I have searched but have not found anything that I thought helped me.
I have a dataframe that contains ~4.5 million rows and 5 columns. (see memory and df details below). I am trying to save the dataframe to a MS SQL Server database, using the “sqlSave” function. The code

Looking for input on which way to go with small business setup
Hey guys!
I'm the past week and a half, I have really learned a lot from the mailing
list and the wiki's posted online.
Now I have a question regarding different ways I can setup my asterisk
server for a small business with 12 extensions in the office. Cost is a
great concern, so I know cheap analog phones at the desks is what we are
looking at. My question is, should I go do a fractional

MS SQL Server 2005 with Windows Authentication via Samba+LDAP PDC
Hi
I'm relatively new to Samba, and now I'm trying to migrate our PDC
from tdbsam to ldap. On my test systems, users can authenticate
and log in to their XP machines, but logging into our ERP system (MS
SQL 2005 backend) fails with
"not associated with a trusted sql server connection"
Has anybody else seen this? Here's my smb.conf - its pretty textbooks.
