Deryck,
Should we create a list of LDAP management tools that support
the Samba schema? For example, LAM & phpLdapAdmin.

SWAT features
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Hi, all.
I've been working on SWAT in trunk for the last few weeks. My work
started as nothing more than a cosmetic redesign, trying to modernize
SWAT and offer a clean, sophisticated interface. As I've gotten deeper
into this, it seems to me that SWAT could use some improvements to its
overall design -- not just aesthetically, but

Dear Sirs,
I cannot find how to check out samba-docs according to

This docs tree has been moved to a separate SVN

Simple fix to horrible bug in Samba website CSS
Dear Folks,
For a long time I have been unable to read the menu at the left of
http://samba.org/ in my 1920x1440 display. All the menu items
overwrite each other in a horrible, illegible jumble. I thought it
might be a bug in firefox or something.
Then I investigated, and found that there is actually a serious bug in
the cascading style sheet for the web site. The problem is in

Modifying SWAT views for general users
I'm looking at having my general Samba users change their own passwords on
my Linux server using SWAT. Is there a way that I can have them have
access to the password changing view and not be able to see the
configuration and status information. Is there an easy way for those
"button" to not appear on the web page?

Can anyone point me to a search interface for this lists archive. I couldn't
find reference on the lists.samba.org site.
Thanks,

what's the best filesystem
Curious what folks think the best choice of filesystem is, specifically
when used for Samba and regular Unix users (SMB+NFS access).
I'm using Reiser now but its slow and doesn't work good XP attributes.
I've also used XFS (a couple of years ago) and liked it but had some
troubles with cross-platform Unix and the extended ACLs.
What's the preference today?
Thanks

audit and recycle VFS modules
I have activated the audit.so module and it logs information about file
access but not in the format I want: it doesn't log the user name and
host name who performed each action on a file or directory. How can I
set the format of this log?
About the recycle.so module, it works but not always. Some "Permission
denied" lines appear in the logs regarding a file move towards
.recycle.

Samba Website Updated and Redesigned
If you haven't been to samba.org in the last few hours, it's time to
take a look. Much has changed. The Samba website has been completely
redesigned and updated.
This version of the Samba website has a striking new look and features
XHTML markup and a CSS-controlled layout. In addition to these changes
to samba.org, the Samba Team is pleased to announce the creation of

SWAT won't start
Hi,
I'm setting up Samba on a RH ES linux machine. I have basic functionality
working and can access a share from a Windows pc. I set up smb.conf
manually. I'd like to use SWAT but when I try to run it I get the error:
-- The connection was refused when attempting to contact localhost:901 --
I set up the xinetd configuration file exactly as I've seen online. Webmin
works fine.

How to hire a samba developer?
I'm curious about how one would go about contacting/hiring a samba
developer to fix a bug, or implement a feature. I've got a particular
bug in mind (1493), but it seems like it would be a good thing to know
in general.
Thanks,

OT: Is "Samba" an acronym?
http://us4.samba.org/samba/docs/SambaIntro.html
Through his E'mail contacts, Andrew discovered that NetBIOS and SMB were
actually (though nominally) documented. With this new information at his
fingertips he set to work again, but soon ran into another problem. He was
contacted by a company claiming trademark on the name that he had chosen for
his server software. Rather than cause a fuss,

am I the only one that pam_mkhomedir+samba makes machine folders for?...was RE: pam_mkhomdir.so is creating machine folders when usedwithsamba
I see a ton of past archive mails for pam_mkhomedir.so,
but I don't see anyone else with my problem. Do others just not care
that a bunch of extra folders with the machine names are getting
created,
or is it not happening for anyone else,
and I have just done something wrong?

Participation on Samba lists
Luke Leighton (lkcl) has brought up his arguments about control
of Samba before. In October 2000 they resulted in the creation
of a new Samba code branch, samba-tng, which Luke and others who
agreed with his direction were free to do with as they will.
Samba-tng still exists, and we in the Samba Team still wish it
well, but what we can't continue to put up with is Luke still

[LLVMdev] Phabricator and private reviews
For whatever reason, patches posted to the Phabricator website still
aren't being sent to the mailing list, making it difficult for us to
review them.
I've raised this issue a couple of times in the last few weeks.
In practice this has a detrimental effect to the development workflow
because it means that code is being seen only by a small group of
individuals who have web accounts.

how to get the status of failed call files
i am creating call files, and catching successfully the ones that don't
connect in a 'failed' extension. can anyone tell me how to find out the
reason for the failure (ie busy, no answer).
${DIALSTATUS} doesn't appear to get set (presumably because Dial() isn't
used) and channel_status doesn't seem to be any good.
thanks in advance.
