Win2k, Domain logon, permissions
I first asked this question at the end of October, got a response which
didn't solve the problem, and have finally got back to the issue now.
I'm running 2.2.7a, recently upgraded from 2.2.0 as Domain Logons for
Win2K were suspected to be part of my problem. Anyway, the issue
relates to AutoCAD (actually a vertical product called Land3) and a
command which works with winXX boxes, but

Samba 3b3, cups117 and point-n-click blues. Looks like Samba bug? HELP! part 2
I've attempted to do the same using Win2k's APW. At
first it looks like it's going to work, but at the
very last part it gives an access denied error. It
gives the errors AFTER it copies all the files to the
server...
Here's the log.spleen (my win2k is spleen):

User Manager Tools
I loaded the NT4 Domain Manager tools and tried to use UserMgr to add
some users. The add users sections of the menu are grayed out and I
cannot do the deed. I've tried a variety of things. The machine was a
member of the domain, I was logged in a administrator, which seemed to
map as root in Samba, but still all I could do is look, not touch.
Any ideas what I did wrong this time?

samba in centos 4.4: samba-3.0.10-1.4E.9 versus the latest from sernet samba3-3.0.23c-30
Hi people.
I use centos on many my servers and they are running samba which comes
with centos: samba-3.0.10-1.4E.9
From samba-3.0.10 to 3.0.23c many thnigs in code had change. Many bug
fixes etc., code rewrote (for example oplock in later version of samba
than 3.0.10). RedHat people don't have made a full of backports to their
samba, only security things.
So I have question, what do

Folder/directory permissions
Greetings.
I am new to this list so please forgive what maybe an easy question.
I am trying to use Samba 2.2.5 on a Solaris 7 server for a bunch of Win9x and
Win2K clients. What I am currently having troubles with is viewing/changing
permissions on the W2K boxes. While everything seems to be working OK for
files (the check boxes show up and function correctly), this is NOT the case

cupsaddsmb not working after upgrade to Lenny (rpcclient -> WERR_INVALID_PARAM)
Dear list,
I've upgraded my server from Etch to Lenny and now the printer (HP
LaserJet 6P) does not work any more through Samba.
Printing a testpage via http://server:631 works perfectly so I skip
giving details about the CUPS setup.
Also lpstat reports the printer working
# lpstat -a

I tried to rerun cupsaddsmb. The driver files are copied to the

Got cupsaddsmb working but the client PC download of the printer drivers fails for 3 out 4 PCs tested so far!
I have built a new CUPS print server on Ubuntu 8.04 server for our
office (used apt-get to download the CUPS v 1.3.7 and Samba v3.0.28a
packages) as a replacement for our existing Suse CUPS print server and I
want to use the cupsaddsmb tool to set up printer drivers for download
by PCs rather than using the Add Printer Wizard method which we have
used on our older CUPS print server.

Samba4 CUPS: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED opening remote file
I'm setting up cups printing with Samba 4.0.5.
I downloaded both the windows drivers and the postscript drivers and put them into /usr/share/cups/drivers/.
I configured cups through the web interface. Created a printer and printed a test page.
I edited smb.conf and put in the necessary entries for cups printing:

adddriver rpc command generates segmentation fault
Hi,
I'm trying to add a printer driver to samba 2.2.7, part of the RedHat 9
distro. I have all the associated files under print$/W32X86 (I verified
that they were where I thought they were from samba's POV by looking via
smbclient). Below is the output from a getdriver command issued to a W2K
PDC to get the names of all the required files for the particular printer:

I have a problem with sharing an ACCESS2000 mdb file on a samba share. The
first user can open the file without any trouble. The next user (or the
same user again) has to wait a timed 4 minutes before the database opens
for him.
I have tried a number of various locking options (oplocks = no, veto

2.2.3a - buggy homedir mapping with profiles for 9x/winxp
Hi @all,
I'm using version 2.2.3a (because the patch for printingproblems in
2.2.4 is not working for me) as a PDC for Win9x- and WinXP-Clients. I
want to set up different profile directories for Win9x and WinXP. This
seemed not a problem with
logon home = \\%N\%U\profile_9x_me
logon path = \\%N\%U\profile_nt_xp
I have a client with Win98 and WinXP on it. If I log on first with

identical() versus sapply()
Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere, but I can't find any discussion of it.
Wondering why the following situation occurs (duplicated on 3.2.2 CentOS6 and 3.0.1 Win2k, so I don't think it is a bug):
> sapply(1, identical, 1)
[1] TRUE
> sapply(1:2, identical, 1)
[1] FALSE FALSE
> sapply(1:2, function(i) identical(as.numeric(i),1) )
[1] TRUE FALSE
> sapply(1:2,
