Samba proposal document.
I have a project due at school and have chosen Samba servers to research.
I am trying to find a source of information that discusses the corporate
advantage to Samba. How much money can a company save in NT server
licensing fees for example. Something that would help me write a fictitious
business proposal. If anyone can quick point me in a direction here I would
appreciate it.

High Volume US Traffic? Claim DIP Compensation!
This could be a nice opportunity for users with a high volume of SIP traffic
terminating in the US:
Collecting dip fees on outbound phone calls - fees that would otherwise go
to the local phone company.
With all the recent fees and surcharges, the cost of wholesale telecom and
dialer traffic keeps rising. But what many companies with a high volume of
IP based voice traffic don't realize

Samba4, MS CAL and Windows Server as domain member
Hi everyone,
I have a licencing question : do one need to buy CAL for every user in a Samba4 domain when there is a Windows Server as a domain member, knowing that the Windows server will be accessed using SMB by Windows workstations?
As per http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/using_samba/ch01.html and many other web sites, one of the main advantage of samba is that no user CALs are required. And I

Running R in Windows server
Hi,
I'm trying to set up a server which allows different users to use R simultaneously. Is it possible in Windows?
I know that a LINUX Server is probably a better option, but I had already created a GUI with Tcl/tk in Windows. So some of the events don't work in LINUX.
Thanks in advance,
Srpd

Liability reasons because we serve alcohol at the reception. I can change to age if thats better or ask if someone is under 21 but you may still be asked show ID if a server is unsure.

Samba PDC and Win2K BDC
Hello,
Please forgive my ignorance if this is a old topic or is a
easy, I am rather new to these stuffs.
I have Samba running and authenticating properly in our
Organization as a PDC. Now if I wanted a Windows 2000
server as a BDC for that domain, it that possible (samba
2.2 or 3). I know the 3 alpha supports active directory.
The Windows 2000 server will be a BDC for the Samba PDC.

because legally I cannot. Distribution of a mp3 encoder requires license

I would recommend RHEL for critical systems or those that must be
certified for a particular purpose, such as CA servers.

best "Rails on the cloud" solution?
A search of this forum for "cloud" brought up a pretty anemic and mostly
year or more old list of stuff. That was a bit of a surprise to me.
I''m interested in getting opinions on the easiest way to deploy a Rails
app to a well known (S3 or similar) "cloud" server.
It should be something with little or no "installation" or
"establishment" fees and

That's really up to the program manager in which the machine would be
used. He would make a determination whether it's supportable and
maintainable, based on in-house

I?d like to see Dovecot distributed in the Docker Store (coming soon) or the Docker Hub. Most enterprises are moving to deploying their apps in containers and these

Conditions for using Speex
Hello Speex.
We are a small Canadian company currently researching the possibility of
using Speex for an iPhone application.
We wonder if Speex can be used to develop paid applications and if you
require any fees or other payments if it used commercially
Thank you.

It's really pretty simple.
You can download the code and build it all you want... ...for yourself.
It cannot be distributed, sold, or used commercially in any way.
That's all.

License Question
Dear All,
I learned about R during my studies at Cologne University of Applied Science. Now I work at Allianz Dresdner Bauspar AG and I would like to install R here too. Is there any license issues that need to be taken in consideration, any fees to pay by the company? I know there are answers to this in the FAQs but I didn't really understand the legal language. Could you therefore just give
