Temp fix for users getting smb_trans2: invalid data in messages log file
Hello all,
I was having this problem and finally found a temp fix for it. The symptoms
seem to be this:
--> You are on a linux client
--> You have mounted a samba drive from you linux client to a linux server.
--> When you try to make modifications or copy file from your client to the
server, it takes a long time or times-out.
--> Your /var/log/mesages file states smb_trans2:

Using discrete choice data to estimate marginal willingness to pay (MWTP)
Hello Everyone,
Can anyone show me how to use discrete choice data to estimate marginal willingness to pay? I've searched for simple information or code on how to do this but haven't found much.
The closest I've come is a paper titled "Introduction to Choice Experiments using R." The paper seems to have what I want but is not readily available and is written in Japanese.

Garbage collection kills my logger and results jobs too
I wrote the following script to run garbage collection on Backgroundrb
workers older than 30 minutes:
class WorkerCleaner
def self.remove_stale_workers
MiddleMan.gc!(Time.now - 60*30)
end
end
I stuck is under /lib in my Rails app and run it using script/runner from a
cron job. The only problem I''m seeing is that this script kills my
backgroundrb_results and backgroundrb_logger

Use of "&" kills rails -- redux
I see someone else mentioned this below, but the answer was just "use
&&", which isn''t what I''m looking for.
I''m using acts_as_ferret in my web app, but if the user inputs certain
symbols, like &, it kills his/her browser. I''m running everything
locally on OS X. I had to reboot OS X because the crash was so bad.
Is there a way to

Network Servers window kills all Nautilus windows in CentOS 5.1?
In the process of doing something else, I happened to open the Network
Servers window from the Places applet menu. When I did, it killed all my
Nautilus windows on all my workspaces. (I had to experiment a little to
prove this, but it did happen.)
Is there an explanation for this and what?
Thanks.

Printing to Samba/Cups from Windows kills windows application.
Hi People,
I have just built a Samba 3.0.2 server using Suse Standard Server 8 and Cups
for printing. Setting up printers and printing works fine for all of the
more modern printers, but older HP Laserjet 5N / 4 printers do not. When
trying to print to them from Win 2k/XP the windows app that we're printing
from just dies, or gives a "do you want to send error report to

tftpd multicast option kills other negotiation options
Hi,
The tftpd can not handle a request with the multicast option set.
If the request has additional options eg. blksize, all options are
discarded and a oack is newer sent.
The client works fine with the atftpd server.
I am not after an implementation of the multicast feature. However, the
server should not discard the other options.
Any thoughts about this?
Regards,
Robin Theander.

killall kills god
I was having a problem with cap deploys where you get:
Couldn''t find any pid file in ... matching ''dispatch.[0-9]*.pid''
based on the suggestion of another post I implemented the following in
deploy.rb which does successful terminate all the Ruby process but this
includes God.
desc "restart override"
task :restart, :roles => :app do
run "killall -9

Problem with master browser, Vista kills network neighbourhood
I have a Samba Server 3.0.23a running on a Fedora 4.
Since Vista entered my lan I've been having problems with
master browser elections. When a Vista client connects to my
workgroup it kills the network neighbourhood and the only
machines seen is the vista client and my fileserver.
By changing the regedit entries on the client side following
this advice:

Freetype kills Icewind Dale 2 on Fedora 9
The latest Fedora 9 RPM install of Wine (0.9.58-1) will give the following complaint without freetype installed:
Code:
Wine cannot find the FreeType font library. To enable Wine to
use TrueType fonts please install a version of FreeType greater than
or equal to 2.0.5.
http://www.freetype.org
However Icewind Dale 2 still runs fine. But if I install freetype then it won't run at all and

[PATCH] Fix cleanup if Ctrl-C kills guestfs qemu process
If a user kills v2v with Ctrl-C during the conversion stage, there is a high
likelihood that the qemu process will die before v2v cleanup completes. When
this happens, the unmount_all and sync calls will fail. This causes all further
cleanup to be aborted, which is undesirable.
Additional fix to RHBZ#596015

Malloc debug kills asterisk?
Hi-
In trying to track down a possible memory leak in asterisk, I've discovered
that the "show memory allocations" command crashes asterisk (causes it to
stop handling calls, although it doesn't seg fault). The related "show
memory summary" works however.
Before I post this to the bugs list, can someone else please confirm this
problem? You need to enable malloc

App Read() kills call when file doesn't exist
I don't know if this is a recent issue... When the read() application is
given a file that does not exist, it aborts the ENTIRE dial plan. That
can't be right. Playback() and Background() don't do this. Couldn't find
a bug in mantis for it...
