Hi List,
is it really necessary to add every user to the administrators group to
allow them to update their windows boxes? I really can't believe this...
Cheers

Panic in Samba 3.0.3Pre2
Hi All,
I hope someone can help me with this problem. I recently moved my Windows Print server to Linux (Red Hat 9.0, Samba 3.0.2) due to stability problems, however since i had a constant smbd panics I reverted back to my Windows 2000 server much to the disappointment of my manager and director. Having posted to this list someone suggested an upgrade to 3.0.3pre2 which solved their issues, I

Apache leaks sensitive info in PHP phpinfo() calls
Hi,
I wanted to get some opinions on this subject before I submit a PR about
it. I don't know if there are any pitfalls with the 'fix' I suggested
and though it best to run it past people here before submitting. If
there's a better place to post this please let me know (freebsd-ports?).
The send-pr output I was about to send explains everything so I'll just
paste it here:

Typo in Samba HOWTO collection example 19.2
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Hi,
Since the samba-docs mailing list is closed, I figured this was the best
place to post this.
I believe there's a typo in example 19.2 ("Overriding global CUPS
settings for one printer") of the official Samba HOWTO collection. The
"print command" parameter in the [special_printer] section contains
several echo commands,

dom0 networking disabled
Hi folks, I''ve been trying to work out this situation for a few days now
without much success and dug all over the archives for similar issues,
none of which seem to relate exactly.
I installed Debian Etch and the Xen (3.03) kernels / binaries on a Dell
server. It works fantastic with all the default configurations with one
strange flaw - as soon as the /etc/xen/scripts/network-bridge

Samba-CUPS interface
Hi,
One of our Samba server (4.4.5) is a print server with CUPS backend . In
addition we are using a print management product that is itself a backend
to cups.
Everything works well, except that the document names that are transmitted
in the chain is of the form : "smbprn.00000648 MyDocument.pdf" . I guess
that the prefix smbprn.00000648 is the samba job ID that is concatenated to

Logging user activities
Hello,
What do you recommend for keeping track of user
activities? For preserving bash histories I followed
these recommendations:
http://www.defcon1.org/secure-command.html
They include using 'chflags sappnd .bash_history',
enabling process accounting, and the like.
My goal is to "watch the watchers," i.e. watch for
abuse of power by SOC people with the ability to view

Hello All
I just recently was told our small company needed a webserver. Well.. I need
help. No I am not a newbie to computers just to Linux and samba. For the
webserver I went with Mandrake 10 for ease of installing all web packages.
By default it installs apache with mysql ssl and the whole bit. Now I have
