Hi there, I am trying to set up a Squid proxy using group authentication via samba ntlm. So I thought about using ntlm_auth, which can authenticate groups since Samba version 3.0.4 as I read. So anyone knows if it is possible to authenticate against different groups? Problem is we got 4 domains, each has it's own group called WWW and only members of that group are allowed to use the proxy.

Me and my problem again... I created the root user on the 2k Domain now (same password as on linux), and can authenticate that one. Strange a little, don't really understand that though. Is there any possibility to solve that, maybe by duplicating the user database on Linux in a regular time period? Or anyone maybe got the same problem and could help me with that? I am trying to setup Samba in a classroom so that a student's samba folder can be accessed via Windows by the student and the teacher. I have Samba working, but can only get the student access to the folder. How can I add another user or group to Samba so the teacher and student have full control over the folder? Thanks Tom

Again me, got a log file too (forgot to add it). Made that one while trying to get groups from that user (used winbindd -d 10 -i). Hope anyone can help me with that, for I really don't know what to do anymore. while trying to log on to my smb server via domain I am getting this error "Your computer could not be joined to the domain because the following error has occurred: the credentials supplied conflict with an existing set of credentials. I am trying to log on to the linux domain from my windows 2000 box I can log on to the workgroup but not the domain and the domain and workgroup are diffrent.

I am running RedHat 9 and samba. I need to be able to set one password for each user and sync them with ssh, web, unix password. i.e. When I change samba pass, it changes unix, ftp, etc. Is this possible with samba? I saw that it is if you are running windows and then you can change the unix pass via samba. Is this possible when running linux. I just want to easily administer my users.
