Does send_file act differently with Mongrel than withWebrick?
I tried the mime thing but it did not help. I didn''t think it was that because I can get the mp3 served OK hitting the URL in a browser. I just noticed that I am getting an error in Mongrel when WinAmp make the request for the mp3 file: BAD CLIENT (127.0.0.1): Invalid HTTP format, parsing fails. I don''t think Mongrel has a problem with the URL itself because if a browser

Does send_file act differently with Mongrel than with Webrick?
Mongrel 0.3.13.3 Windows XP Rails 1.1.6 I have a rails app that serves up mp3 files via the send_file command. We create a playlist (M3U) with URLs to the mp3s. These play just fine using Windows Media Player. However using WinAmp we get an error "error syncing to stream" when it tries to request the mp3. After playing around I found that if I am running Rails under Webrick WinAmp

Sobel's test for mediation and lme4/nlme
Hello, Any advice or pointers for implementing Sobel's test for mediation in 2-level model setting? For fitting the hierarchical models, I am using "lme4" but could also revert to "nlme" since it is a relatively simple varying intercept model and they yield identical estimates. I apologize for this is an R question with an embedded statistical question. I noticed that a

samba, wireless, winamp or windows media libraries - slow, hangs
I'm getting really poor performance when using samba with specific applications - winamp and windows media player, when building the media library. I keep my mp3 files on a debian server (2.4.23-1-k7). It is running samba 3.0.7-Debian. Most operations seem to work OK. I can copy a 10 MB file to or from the server in about 30 seconds. My client is windows XP. It connects to the server via

Re-2: streaming MP3s?
I'm using icecast-2.0-alpha-2 and ices-2.0-Beta2. When I put the .mp3 file in my webroot and start laying it via winamp/location/<filename>.mp3 it works fine, just when I try using the playlist via ices I get a 404. -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Re: [icecast] streaming MP3s? Problem with streaming some mp3s (but not all)
Hi! I would really appreciate if someone could try to help me out with this... i've been struggling with it for quite a while now. :( Anyway, I was trying to use ices to broadcast mp3s with icecast2 (a recent cvs snapshot of all 3 components from brendan's site). I have it working fine for some of my mp3s (encoded with lame -b 32) but with the other mp3s which are actually the ones that

Re: xmms-flac problem
The best I can suggest is, run XMMS on repeat mode for a few hours. The flac plugin will, if my setup isn't bizarre (it's just debian testing), eventually give way. Just disable audio output or something, let it run overnight, and see what state it's in in the morning. I'm sure the Oggs will be a suitable test, rather than MP3s. Just try a playlist of two entries, with shuffle

possible solution...?
Which DSP are you running to feed your stream? (on winamp I am assuming) If you are using the new shoutcast 1.8.2 DSP, it has had a lot of problems with super high CPU load and memory leaks. Try Oddcast instead (unless you can run ices or darkice) using VBR Mp3 streaming. Nothing but happy times here on a win2k dual p2 333 with winamp (2.74) and Oddcast DSP Beta 25 connected to KasterBlaster

RC3 Tagging/Encoding and Winamp answer
First of all, I'm using WinXP and love vorbis! :-) Since I just joined the mailing list, I figured I would answer the Winamp question. Winamp has different EQ algorithms - they have a "fast layer 2/3 EQ" option for mp3s, and they have a PCM EQ for all other formats (wma, ogg, etc.). While the mp3 EQ sounds ok, the PCM EQ (which gets applied to ogg files) is absolutely horrible. I

Looking for C8 AMD help
I'm migrating from C7 to C8.? I'm currently using autofs, but alas autofs has been dropped in C8 for the AMD automounter. I have some very ancient knowledge of AMD, I used it when it was first introduced many years ago on Solaris and moved to Sun's automounter when it was introduced. So now it's back to square one. I used automount2amd to convert one of my existing maps,

fwiw erver icecast 1.3.7 / ices 0.0.1beta5 erver on a dsl line (384kbps) client on a LAN separate to it going through several hops winamp has the drop client problems. And recently another weird problem, it spawns with only one channel balance way over to the right. this can suck if your windows has no balance control for its audio! onique: stays connected for hours and hours xmms/unix .

yep
I am running an oldish Icecast (like 1.3.08), Ices and Libshout from about that time, and the newest version of WinAmp with ths Source plugins. For the longest time I've been using Ices to stream a mount point, /DEFAULT, which just plays random mp3s from the servers hard drive. But now I've added a second mountpoint from which live djs can send their streams from, which are usualy from

Stream from webserver
Hello. I want to know how I can put files (mp3s or oggs) on my webserver, make a plsylist and stream them directly from the webserver. I had found an apps witch could do that on the old website, but not on the new one.. I also want to know what app you advise me for stream mp3s to a icecast server (in ogg) under linux. Because I've seen DSP for winamp, but no apps for streaming from a linux

connection problem
I am pretty sure that the integrity of my mp3's is okay. I know that music match shreds the mp3 data and produces mp3 files that are not ISO compliant. I always use WaveLab and the radium codec to encode my sets and enable the ISO compatibility option at all times. This problem only seemed to come about with winamp 2.7 but if sonique is doing it to, I don't know... What about relaying? Do

Streaming With Flac
We have FLAC support on our AudioReQuest products, and we allow streaming from our built-in web server for MP3s, but can not get Flac working. Does anyone know a Windows based player that will play FLAC streams? I have tried the Winamp plug-in for FLAC (even updated it to 1.1.0), but streaming is not working. We use embedded id3 tags instead of Flac comments if this means anything. Thanks
