Any useful link also would do. thanks in advance :-) senthil -------------- next part -------------- HTML

Login script doesn't run
Hi, The login script has worked for our win98 computers since the dawn of time (or there abouts). Then something happened or I did something and the login script doesn't run anymore. I can run it manually. This was version 2.2.3a. I started smbd with -d10 and didn't see any call for a script. Is the login script mentioned in a working system? In an effort to fix this, I deleted and

Login script doesn't run - Solved
I hate being stupid. Here is the answer: This won't work: [global] logon script = %U.bat # Win9x needs this This will work: [global] # Win9x needs this logon script = %U.bat The comment has to be on it's own line. Thanks to all for trying to help. Bob Crandell (bob@assuredcomp.com) wrote*: > >Hi, >The login script has worked for our win98 computers

'Access denied' when moving files
Hello. I've got a Windows 2000 Pro Sp2 client using Samba 2.2.4-2 on Red Hat Linux 7.3. I've ran chmod 777 * +R on the directory that samba shares; sharing is set as 'share' security. Lots of times, when I move video files from my local hard drive on the Windows 2000 machine to the samba share (mapped to a drive letter, not a UNC), I get an "Access denied, the source file may

Linux box talks to XP Pro, XP Pro permissions denied on LinuxBox
My linux box can see, browse, and copy files from an XP Share. However, when I try to access the box either via its network name (\\linuxbox <file:///\\linuxbox> ) or by ip address (\\192.168.1.231 <file:///\\192.168.1.231> ) Windows shows me an error stating I don't have permissions to access the resource. hp officejet 9130 and samba
we're using an hp officejet 9130 (all in one printer/scanner), wich has the possibility to store scans on a network share (smb). path, username and password are checked on a workstation and are ok. the printer has full access to the network. unfortunally samba denies access: <snip filename="log.smbd"> [2005/10/06 14:46:22, 0] smbd/negprot.c:reply_negprot(557) No protocol

2.2.7a logon script will not run
I just tried upgrading from 2.2.3 to 2.2.7a on my PDC (2.2.17 kernel). The logon script that I have been using all along without any problems quits executing w/ 2.2.7a. I can manually map the netlogon share after logging in and manually run the script and everything work fine. No error messages appear in the log files. My smb.conf file is included. Don't know quite where to go with this

Blocking internet access to Samba
My samba.smbd log shows multiple entries such as: [2002/10/30 10:30:04, 0] lib/access.c:check_access(323) Denied connection from (211.163.100.141) They show up about every five minutes and are from a few different IP addresses I thought that my iptables configuration would block connection attempts from the internet - is that what these are? My LAN ip range is 192.168.0.x

File owning and rights problems
Hi! I use protocol manager on a boot diskete to map a network drive share which is shared by a samba server. (i.e net use i: \\server\d) I give a username and a password which exists in /etc/samba/smbpasswd (i.e user name: user1 and password: passwd1) but when I create and/or edit a file, it changes the ownership to that file to owner user: dobody and group owner: nobody. Also the rights are

Samba PDC/LDAP not mapping "logon drive"
Well it took forever (three days actually) to: 1) setup a working ldap server. Unix users now authenticate against the LDAP server perfectly. 2) Setup samba to use LDAP authentication. 3) Get the WindowsXP machines to become members of the domain. Everything seems to be working fine except for 1) roaming profiles, and 2) User's home directory (logon drive) doesn't get

In Windows Explorer, 'Network Drives' section, the Samba share I've set up is described as: share on 'Samba 3.0.14a-0.4-SUSE (Our_server_IP_Address)' (K:) Is there any way of configuring Samba to display something other than "Samba 3.0.14a-0.4-SUSE (Our_server_IP_Address)" as the Network Drive description, for example: share on 'Our Samba Server' (K:)
