It works fine It would appear with the win 2000 clients. But I essentially have two problems 1. When I have PGP installed on the machine and log in with a roaming profile . ACL issues still unresolved
Hi all, The two problems I'm having with ACLs on a W2k domain are still no closer to a solution. To wit, they were: (a) Users accessing the ACL properties dialog on W2k can modify and remove existing ACLs on a given file, but they cannot add new ones (that can only be done with setfacl on the cmdline; the changes are then recognised); (b) In said ACL properties dialog, the usernames

minimize download bandwidth techniques
I know of a few techniques for minimizing server bandwidth when bittorent is not an option. 1) If you have the beta isos, you can rename them as centos 5 isos and then rsync from a mirror that allows rsync (such as kernel.org). Then only changes from beta to centos 5 plus some overhead is downloaded. I suppose you could use this technique with bittorrent too. 2) Instead of downloading both cd

mapping drive in XP hangs
Hello list, I have been using samba (was last at 2.2.2) sucessfully for nearly two years on my solaris systems as the file server to my pcs. Recently (since last friday) my XP boxes cannot map a drive, and auto-mapped home dirs cause a huge timeout of over 15 minutes! Nothing has changed in my config file, nothing changed on the system. Just to try something, today I upgraded to 2.2.7, but still

Old bug resurfacing?
I found this in the archives: http://samba.cadcamlab.org/lists/samba/Feb2002/00318.html It pertains pretty directly to the problem I'm seeing. I first started having it with my 2.7 installed version so I upgraded to 2.8. I'm still having the same problem. Basically, I have a group of web developers that use the linux/samba server for editing files for the site. All the files are

2gb limit & weird filenames
Hello, I'm trying to set up a samba server for a friend who has a mac. He's running OSX, version 10.2. He's got some really big video editing files that are well in excess of 2gb. We're trying to back these up to the samba server, but it quits right around 2gb. That seems to be a magical number. This is with version 2.2.3 of Samba, and Linux-Mandrake 8.2, ext3 file system. I
