Can anybody give me a hint how to set up Samba BDC(RedHat 9.0) with rsync-ing WIN-NT PDC so that if WIN-NT PDC is down all the clients can still get Authentication service from Samba BDC(RedHat 9.0). i have seen in Samba documentation that it can be done using rsync but nowhwere it is clearly explained howto do it.. This is a slight rework of my last question but should be clearer. My samba installation appears to be trying to use /root/tmp as its temp directory. This is useless as when logged in as a user the system has no access to the temp directory and so nothing works. How do I pursaude Samba to use /tmp as the temp dir. I am running Samba 3 on a Mandrake system. Thanks

Dear Michael, I just have the same problem you have with samba 2.2.3a on a Suse 8.0 machine and win xp pro. Besides I performed all the steps below. >From my postings I learned that the prob might have something to do with a wrong mapping in smbusers file.
