Problems using Roaming Profiles on Win2k
Hi,
I have set up a Samba 2.2.7a to work as a PDC for my Win2k boxes.
They can join the domain suplied by samba, and all the users
can log on to their domain but, the roaming profiles just won't
work. I'm using win2k SP4 and my smb.conf is as described bellow:

workgroup = CASA
netbios name = SERVIDOR
interfaces = 192.168.0.1/255.255.255.0 127.0.0.1/255.0.0.0

Hi there!
After some long hours trying to figure out some nasty behavior related to
win2k automatically deleting roaming cached profiles, I?d like to share the
results with you guys for any future reference.

Problems with Roaming Profiles under Win2k SP3
I'm having a problem wtih 2.2.6pre2 that I seem unable to resolve. When
logging out of my Win2K SP3 machine, I receive the error "Windows cannot
update the roaming profile. The system cannot find the file specified."
Checking the archives and google brings up several references to errors
around the copying of ntuser.dat from the local machine, to a temporary

Win2K Terminal Server and roaming profiles issue
I have been using Samba 2.2 with LDAP as a PDC for a domain for over a year in a gradeschool setting. Recently, users have been having problems with roaming profiles not working. And not all users, just some. I have applied the policy fix for CompatibleRUPSecurity, along with other suggestions, but I still get 'the profile cannot be loaded', Access is denied message for somce users. I

samba3 win2k roaming profiles.
I'm running Windows 2000 Professional and Samba 3.0.1 and I can't seem
to get roaming profiles to work right. When there are no profiles
stored locally on the win2k machine, and a user logs in for the first
time, it successfully reads the profile from the server in the
\\netlogon\Default User share. Next, if you manually copy the profile
to server and login to the workstation, it

Roaming profiles problems Samba 3.0.2a / Win XP Pro/Win2K
Hi guys,
I'm experiencing seemingly random problems using roaming profiles with
Samba 3.0.2 on Debian Woody and clients being Win XP Pro and Win2K (all
of them running the latest service packs and critical updates and so
forth).
Sometimes when one of the machines tires to login the server profile
can't be found. The error Windows comes up with is "Network name cannot
be found."

Win2k Roaming Profiles problems under NTFS
Hi there!
I have a Samba 2.2.2 PDC on linux 2.4.13 with ACL (acl.bestbits.at) support
installed. There seems to be a problem with Roaming Profiles. Win2k with
local NTFS filesystem will never delete roaming profiles (yes, I have
regedited the DeleteRoamingCache to 1). In fact, any time TheUser logs back
in, a new folder named TheUser.OURDOMAIN.??? (where ? is an integer) will

Samba 3 as pdc : Roaming profile cannot be created.... win2k workstation
I have Samba 3 running on gentoo as a pdc. I read in someone's forum
posting to try enabling acls and that didn't seem to do much good. I
can get the computers to be added to the domain using their smb
username/passwords and when they login, the correct shares
corresponding to their users map perfectly; however, my biggest
problem is when they do login it says the following:

films on Desktops and roaming profiles
Hi,
I'd like to ask you what do you limit Desktops syncing in case users
put large files on them, e.g. films.
Downloading / uploading such large files can generate lots of
unnecessary traffic. Is there any kind of filtering possible ?
Other solutions ?
Cheers,

Vista roaming profiles...
Hi everybody,
after many weeks of searching/trying, I still can't manage to get vista to use/save roaming profiles with samba as PDC...
It has apparently worked a few times in the beginning since the profiles directories are populated.
Could it be related to a Vista update or SP1?
Here's what I did so far:

Roaming profiles problem - loading failure
I have a samba 2.2.4 PDC which acts as the repository of roaming profiles.
Just recently some of our users have experienced failure to load roaming
profiles. The clients are on a pair of Windows 2000 terminal servers.
The failure does not seem to be confined to one server and only affects some
people.
The error given takes place during the loading profile stage:

I have a linux box running samba configured as my PDC with roaming
profiles. Everything was running great until I upgraded to WinXP
instead of Win2K. Now, when I log out of my XP session, my profile
doesn't get uploaded to the server. The local copy remains in effect
until I reboot. When I log out, the following message gets sent to the
event logger:

Domain login problem...
Hi.
Whups... Posted to wrong mailing list at first... but anyway...
I am using Samba 2.2.6 with LDAP-support compiled in under RH7.3. (same
happened with 2.2.5)
I can logon from Win9x clients nicely to domain. I can usually
join domain under Win2k-sp3. But I can't logon to domain.
If I make local login to computer and then try to access shares,
it works correctly.
I can do logon to Linux
